SCAR no longer available?

What price would you put on a non-restricted AR? An XCR is a $2,500 gun; the SCAR is not an XCR - and the simple fact is it's going to be unobtanium (even more so than an HK416 or G36). The ACR, less so. The one I'd really shell out serious coin for is the Beretta ARX160.

The ARX160 looks cool with the launcher eh!

Just Remember Guys, these guns are really collectors guns, although they are the new modern series of Black rifles they are possibly never going to come into this country again and will not be available for civilian ownership. If things turn around be prepared for a steady decrease in price on these items, so there is a risk factor. If the cost is of know big deal then go for it, if you are planning on buying it to try it and sell later than go for it.

One thing i will say if you are buying it to shoot it and use it as your go too firearm, I would recommend against it, simply because availability on parts may be completely non-accessible. If you are shooting your Safe-Queen now and then, well that is okay too!

Just Remember there are already a host of new modernized AR etc etc that are already on the market and made right here in Canada.

All the realities Blaxsun mentioned are perfectly important and of great consideration in the finalization of your thought process in determining if you wish to purchase a Scar or ACR.

Keep in mind if the US continues to shut down it's civilian firearms exportation then you will have to look more to what Canadian manufactures are producing and the European manufactures have to offer as well.

Judging by Harper's debate last night, I'm not sure they will change much in regards to black rifles in this country. If they get a majority I hope they do the opposite the Liberals did in there hay day to make it fair..but to real about it, they have only promised to scrap the gun registry in regards to non-restricted firearms, this appeases the hunting community, and they threw us under the bus last time.

the berreta is damn nice. I agree Not many guns are worth the price we pay but the want is what sells them. Its tough to imagine a rifle with few moving parts and little machining being worth the price of a brand new snowmobile or motorcycle that has far more complex systems, machining, materials, R&D and so on. Its crazy I tell ya.

Try payment in full of $4,000... since last September (and that's not a typo with the correct number of zeros). Then add $1,500 worth of hard-to-find/unobtanium accessories. Assuming the RCMP lab ever gets around to issuing a classification for it, that is.

At the end of the day you'll have 1 of 29 extremely rare and sought-after next generation SCARs. With the capability of being non-restricted. I've seen HK416s and G36s go for more...

I only paid $2200 for my G36...

WARNING - INCOMING THREAD HIJACK - WARNING

Blaxsun,

I'm disappointed in the liking you've taken to that Beretta. It looks like the results you'd get if an HK SL8 and a SCAR banged, produced some kind of mutant offspring that was eaten by a CX4 then sh!t out.

Gross.

But my two cents aren't important, you still have some pretty neat f'n kit.

So.... in that case it sounds like I am doomed in terms of the waiting game if ill ever see a SCAR, in that case what would be a good alternative for a non restricted black rifle? Is there even any?

Haha! Thanks for that great mental imagery! So what you're really saying is that you think the ARX 160 is awesome too! ;)

There's a less than a 1:28 chance of a SCAR finding their way into your hands, yes. And chances are they will be uber-expensive. There's lots of good alternatives: SL8 (w/G36 mod), Tavor, FS2000 - and one I'm looking forward to: the ACR (also held up with the FRT, but April-May is looking optimistic).

Where can I get an ACR, when they finally do arrive?

When RCMP finally re-release the FRT # you should be able to buy them just about everywhere. Gravel Agency is the Bushmaster distributor and will be selling them to dealers across Canada. Other importers may also bring them in.

The hold-up here is the freeze on the FRT by RCMP for their review due to the claims of "full auto burst firing" and the recall that was publicly announced by Bushmaster.

Well at least we know what the hold up is for the ACR, however for the SCAR its more complicated, here is list of the delays;

-the possibility of the lower accepting full auto parts? I guess they mean a "drop in auto sear" or something like that???
-it can accept "high capacity" magazines like the AR FOW?
-federal election?
-no federal budget, sans the election?
-most of the staff vote Liberal?
-previous mistakes in classifying firearms?
-staff shortage
-too many firearms to classify?
-not releasing the FRT? because they can
-no accountability?
-MP's don't care its only 29 rifles and owners?
-maybe Questar's at there limit on how many rifles they can submit?
-there were other rifles submitted before the SCAR?
-RCMP tech's and staff don't like the SCAR?
-RCMP tech's and staff don't like Questar?

I'm sure Blaxsun can add a few,he's been on the road for awhile as well.

I think you missed the most important one:
