Top Gun Target Loads $5.99/box for Breast Cancer Research

Has anyone in the Ottawa area seen these at CT's in the Area.

I called a couple of stores in Ottawa to see if they carried them, but they searched, did not find them, and were unaware. :(

If these were rolled out across the country, and we cleaned them out, it would be a very positive statement.

I smell a possible letter-writing campaign...

Legal gun-owners supporting women's issues. Next step, a range shooting event, with media exposure, to help the cause...

Fantastic Idea!!!! " If It Saves One Life''

Or, it would make us look like we were using the problems of others to further our own agenda.
hmmm, moral dilemma.....

There is no moral dilemma, my friend, and breast cancer is not 'the problem of others.' We all have mothers, aunts, sisters, wives, girlfriends, daughters and female friends, and some of us have had the experience of their suffering through breast cancer.

Breast cancer affects us all, and IS our problem. For those who care about the women in their lives, this is a very legitimate means of showing we care, and interestingly through our common hobby.

It's not often we get a decent crossroads of good causes that we both enjoy, women and guns... ;)

Edit: Men can also get breast cancer. Look it up.

You've missed my point.

The other side uses the third-party pain of victims approach to further their agenda against firearms.
It would be hypocritical to use this as an opportunity to promote shooting sports, or anything other than breast cancer awareness. I'm just cautioning against that particular aspect, not anything else.

I don't want to use this to say that the Cancer Society gives gun owner the thumbs up...or as some type of endorsement or propaganda. Because the anti-side has, and would with other organizations, like the YWCA.

Paatz, you're quite right, the anti's do abuse third-party suffering for their cause, however, many of us can personally relate to breast cancer, and this pink shotgun shell product already exists; we did not create it. It just seems that the firearms community is averse to reaching out to other folk in normal social ways. And legitimately so, after being burned so many times by the ignorant media, it is understandable we tend to be attention-averse, however, a concerted, organized effort needs to be made as an outreach to the general public, to help them realize that WE are really THEM, and that normal, caring people are the legal owners of firearms. Healthy, normal social outreach is necessary to inform the general public that law-abiding firearms owners are far closer to the average family sitting in their living room together than a bunch of illegal-gun-wielding thugs on Jane and Finch. The latter seems to be the current gut-instinct association of the general public, and we need to do something meaningful to correct this very erroneous perception.

I agree that optics are a concern, but my argument is that we need positively-reinforcing optics to counter the already-organized and institutionalized onslaught of negative optics under which we suffer.

I like your post Uncle Max. I think that some type of cancer is not too far away from anyone. I lost women in my family due to breast cancer and a couple others to other types of cancer and I have a male friend who had breast cancer. I made the initial post because I thought that it was a good deal that ammo burning nutz would like to know about. Top Gun at $5.99 is not bad. I also thought it a good cause to quietly support. I do not think that everything I do has to be pro this or anti that. I love buning powder and I love women. For me it was a nice fit, and I think the pink shells are a cool difference.

Agreed on all points.
I will proudly purchase and pump my pink-packaged pellets!

Paatz,
I do not think anyone here has missed your point, and I think pro gun groups have to be very cautious how they react as a group. I as an individual gun owner would like to give the Federal Ammuinition Co my thumbs up for helping fund breast cancer research. I also wanted to give Cambodian Tire in Calgary a pat on the back for offering the promo ammunition at a very good price.

It would be good for us to let them know it's a great idea and that we'll continue to support it as much as they make the opportunity available.
