Factory threaded barrels for Glock 19. Could these be long enough for a Glock 19 to be legal length in Canada? If so could you buy a Glock 19 with it factory installed? It could be less expensive than paying for an aftermarket barrel.

Here's a closer look at the threads for the silencer.

It would definitely be long enough for the 19/23/32 size guns. It might be long enough for the 29, 30 and 36 - and maybe some others.

If you look at this GLOCK 19 with a restricted barrel, this is much shorter than the threads on the barrel in your pics. The pic below that is the same gun with a threaded barrel by IGB Austria designed for the GLOCK 19. It is quite a bit longer than just the shortest restricted barrel possible.

The real trick, obviously, and which you are well aware of... is actually getting a GLOCk with a threaded barrel to import to Canada. How many stock GLOCKs with threaded barrels have you seen in Canada? I thought so. HK makes tons of them available. Why GLOCK doesn't I don't know, but they seem to be extremely rare both here and in the U.S.

I don't know why Glock resisted making threaded barrels for so long but they are making them now. I'm looking forward to finding out if we can get these factory installed.

What leads you to believe that they are making them available now? I wish they would make them available, but the unfortunate reality is that people have been discussing this issue, and the related issue of whether GLOCK will make just regular non-threaded barrels for the 19/23/32 available (the way HK, Steyr, SIG, Beretta, Kimber, S&W and others have) for the Canadian market, for as long as I can remember. The talk goes on forever but we never actually see this in Canada.

If we start seeing threaded barrels readily available in the U.S. , I think only then will we start to see them in Canada. I think GLOCK has made their position abundantly clear over the years that, unlike those other companies I mentioned, they will do NOTHING to make their compact models available to Canadians, and will in fact take steps to stop or hinder those trying to sell their compact guns in Canada (i.e. the "Questar letter").

If you look at Top Gun Supply, one of the bigger sellers of GLOCK pistols online in the U.S., they have on their website a full line of GLOCK pistols and a full line of GLOCK barrels, most of which are listed as "in stock" and "ready to ship", and yet there isn't a single threaded barrel among them.

I wouldn't hold my breath for threaded barrel GLOCK 19's showing up at your local gun store any time soon - probably ever. But, as I say, I wish they would - because I would buy them as well.

EDIT - O.k., I did a search. This is what you are talking about and where you got your pictures from?

Perhaps some of the Canadian distributors can contact this company... AcuSport (which I have never heard of) and see if they are for real and whether they actually have GLOCK factory barrels for sale. If somebody can get them... the barrels, or the guns with the barrels already in them, or whatever... they will sell lots of them. But as I say, people have been talking about this forever....

Ghostie. Go to the AAC website. Click on the blog section. That's where I got the photos. AAC is owned by Remington and if they are saying that Glock factory barrels are being made readily available for the American market you can bet that they are not lying. I just happened to post some very fresh information. I'm sure we'll be able to get these if we wait a little.

Canada imported Glocks before the U.S. did. We also got the cool green and tan Glocks that Americans did not get. I'm sure threaded barrelled 19's will be on the way here soon.

Glock has announced that they are releasing Threaded barrels (not as part of the gun but as separate purchase items). AcuSport will be offering them and does show them on their website... here's their listing:

  • Glock 21 .45 Auto M13.5x1 Left Hand Threaded Barrel
  • GLK Glock 19 9mm M13.5x1 Left Hand Threaded Barrel
  • GLK Glock 19 .45 Auto M13.5x1 Left Hand Threaded Barrel

At this point they don't have any and haven't received any... no estimate on when AcuSport will get them either.

Also, just so you know, AcuSport is showing the US Retail as $300.00 so even with discounted pricing expect the selling price in Canada to be somewhere in the $200 to $300 range (and that's just a guess).

Who knows if Glock will offer them as part of a gun (factory installed). There is no indication of that right now.

Glock Day is coming up at Target Sports in May. I can ask the Glock USA/Canada rep in person and put the answer up on the podcast.

I thought that THREADED barrels were a big fat NO-NO from the US?

The other piece of the puzzle is: *If* these are exportable, will they be offered in Glock 19's as a package or will we need to buy a Glock 19 w/LW or SL barrel, plus the OEM threaded-Glock barrel?

~Cheers
