Thankyou Ellwood Epps....
Picked up my new Savage 93FV 22WMR today.
This is the first time I get to see it in person and dont care for the stock much but I planned on putting on a boyds tacticool anyhow.... I wanted to get a 93TR but they dont make one in 22WMR :(.......cant wait to shoot it and see how well does .I have 4 types of ammo to try out

Federal Gameshock 50 grain JHP
Winchester Super X JHP 40 grains from
CCI maxpower 40 grain
Remington 40 gr JHP

I have a bushnell 3200 elite 3x9 at home on a different rifle and planned on using that.I know they are good scopes and I will be using the rifle for some hunting and a little target practice...... I think it will do ...
I was wondering if a different scope would be better suited for this rifle ...any suggestions

Congrats on the new rifle. I would love to eventually get one of these in left hand. Let us know how she shoots. As for the scope, based on your claimed application, you should be fine with the Bushnell.

Cheers!

Might be getting the same rifle if those Marlin XT-22s don't show-up soon. Might get one anyway, I like Savages. :)

Definitely interested in hearing what ammo. it likes, I actually bought ammo. and scope for this .22 WMR I don't own yet. Don't have a choice now. ;)

BTW, I have that same scope only the 4-12x on my HMR, it's a (lesser) 3-9x I have planned for the .22 mag when I get it. I think your 3200 is an excellent choice for that rifle.

Congrats on yours too...I have been following your thread.....except for the fact your bolt is on the wrong side I like it alot...lol

I mounted a bushnell 3200 elite 3x9 with a high set of rings to get the clearance.Tried a couple shots to get it on paper and really like it.The balance is alot better since adding the scope as it was front heavy before without one.
I want to add a tacticool stock from Boyds and a Bi-pod .

I will try a bunch of Ammo and see what it likes next. ;)

Chalkriver, awesome looking rifle you have there. I picked up a 22mag myself today. Went for a CZ American 452 and mounted a VX3 2.5x8 on her. Cant wait to get out and put a few rounds down the bore :) Best of luck with your new girl.

Mine was in a stainless. It shot well with CCI TNT's.
Anyone know where I can buy some red tipped Hornady's? I would like to try some of those as well.

I took the rifle out for a few more rounds today and it is very accurate but.....it doesnt feed very well at all.
There is always alot of play up and down after the mag is fully inserted and I feel this may be the problem.

I am getting alot of FTF , It looks like the mag is too low and the rounds get hung up on the way to the chamber ..To remedy the problem I have to push up on the bottom of the mag and this seems to work.....it wont jam all the time but it did it 15 out of 50 rounds, anyone heard of this problem and idea how to fix it as it will be a pain to ship it back .
Only tried Remington 40gr JHP so far. The rifle is really accurate but....
I emailed the dealer and am waiting for a reply but I hope I can do it if its a easy fix

UPDATE....FIXED IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.... ( Big thanks to Downwinded on rimfire central ).. he told me to bend the metal tab the mag slides in on a bit ..and it worked like a charm as the rounds slide in like butter now....:p:p

I'm waiting on a 93R17 GLV to come in. The plan is to order up a laminated thumbhole stock from Richards. I checked out the BSEV model, and its kinda cool, but I'm a lefty, and the BSEV is ambidextrous, but RH bolt. Also, the cheek piece isn't really high enough to make for a natural fit with a 3200 tactical scope. I would really like to see a BTVLSS, but nobody here has one in stock, so I'm leaning toward the custom stock. I am really looking forward to the new rifle. Haven't had a brand new gun in 30 years. Already bought the scope, the above mentioned 3200 tactical, 5-15.

So I ordered a Tacticool stock for my 93FV from Boyds ($92 plus shipping) and called Savage and ordered the required bottom metal , screws and trigger guard
($35.00) .While I was on the phone with them I ordered a couple mags for it
($15.00 each) a new mag for my Savage FCSS 116 30.06 ($49.00), and they have shirts on sale as well so I orderd a long sleeve polo style ( $17.00 )

Looking forward to all my stuff arriving :) and I will update with pics and part numbers later...

Please do, what is the ETA for the parts from Savage by the way?

The parts from Savage are shipped within a couple days and sent by U.S. priority mail so....I was told at least a couple of weeks .
And I was told it will be the same timeframe for the Tacticool stock from Boyds.

Nice choice!

I picked up one a month ago and am just waiting for the weather to get warmer to go out and try it. Looking forward to seeing some photos of yours with the new stock.

Well I received my Boyds Tacticool stock and really like it , Big improvment over the original stock .I am still waiting for the triggerguard and bottom metal from Savage , The new stock dropped right in and it was $131.80 shipped to Ontario and took 12 days from ordering to get here .

One more allen head bolt and a philipps head screw(plus trigger guard and plate)

I very much enjoy the trigger on my Savage,17HMR though.

I went with a 6.5-20 power scope, I figured it would be too much but after using it, I am glad I did, If you want to shoot something small way out it sure makes it alot easier.

My new trigger guard and bottom plate showed up from Savage...:)

It all went together easily and the fit is great.
I didnt need the 2 allen bolts I ordered to attach the stock to the receiver as the original ones are the same.
All that is required is one more allen bolt and one phillips head screw for the plate , a trigger guard and the bottom metal plate when ordering.

Both the stock from Boyds and the pieces I ordered from Savage took about 12 days to get here to Ont from the USA.

The Tacticool stock is a vast improvement over the original and I highly recommend the swap :):)
The new stock fits me perfect (6 ft)
Here are some more pics

The foreend and pistol grip are much thicker than the original
