First i don't know if this belongs under here but I will give it a try......I'm sure there are more people using these slings for an AR 15 then anything else :D

I would like anyone who uses these VTAC slings, to give me their input on them. Do you find the free running tail to get in the way of you mag changes? Does the free running tail get caught up on your gear? Are there any other problems you find with it. Also the sling can be setup to a normal 1.25" QD swivel setup am I right?

AND NO.....I don't want to hear buy a VCAS sling...blah blah blah :p

Thanks :D

LOL I know you don't want to hear "buy a VCAS" but consider this....

We sell about 1 VTAC for every 2000 VCAS we sell, seriously.

I know of two government agencies who went with the VTAC instead of the VCAS, who have now come to me wanting to switch to the VCAS.

Why do they want to switch?

1) Better material (nylon), more comfortable to use
2) Tail - large number of guys really hate the tail
3) Failure of the buckle - I been told of 3 people having their rifle "fly" off them while doing "things"

HMMMM that's pretty interesting, I was just under the assumption that the VTAC was able to be adjusted tighter to your body...that was the selling point for me :p

Now, the points you make seem to have changed my mind :D

Thanks

Another vote for VCAS. Farmboy and Boltgun definitely know what they're talking about.

VTAC has some great stuff, and excellent drills/training, but I also prefer the VCAS sling.

I'm using a VTAC-MK2 on my precision carbine. Holds it tight to the center back area and is fast to get on target with a pull of the release. I use a single point for the run and gun stuff (11.5 upper) but did not get any grief from the sling at the last pin match. Made for a very solid off hand hold but still only placed 4th:( Will use the same sling on a short>16" .223 bolt gun too as it is a handy system.

I have done "stuff" with my VTAC including but not limited to a healthy 10' fall on my ass into a ravine with no less then 3 rolls before I came to a stop and my shotgun didn't "fly off my body" but I don't use a QD buckle...

The sling gives you very quick tension adjustment for all carrying positions and if you have never shot with a taught sling around your neck for stability then the first time you take the VTAC to the paper range you will be looking over your shoulder cause it feels like cheating on a quantum physics test.

It takes a bit to get used to and it's not the simplest design on the market but the hardware is solid and it is one of the few accessories on the market that is as advertised.

Nothing wrong with a VCAS either, solid grunt proof sling at a decent price... Both are good investments in my eyes
