OK I have a couple of questions for those currently active in shooting IPSC Shotgun in Ontario. I know I will see many of you at EESA but figured I would give it a run here to.

Question 1) Would you travel 2h W of Barrie and 3h NW of TO for a level 1 match?

Question 2) Would the use of no poppers and very few steel plates put you off?

1) Depends on the day for most people.

2) Probably would for me. Poppers and steel are the best part of IPSC shotgun for me.

The driving is not a factor for me, so is the level of match, and yes I do drive 2.5 hours one way from Toronto to EESA { $60 worth of gas overall } . I think folks are attracted from the quality of the match, hospitality of the club. By now there is already good group of guys that come there often and spirit of competitions between us is also factor. Not to mention that every now and then this events become more than just another day of shooting, many times the money collected go for charities/good causes and if I had to chose between 2 different matches this is the one I like go .

Shotgun matches are too few and far in between. Yes i will go, probably car pool with babo_al the magnificent...

If you need plates we can always bring some. EESA has about 200 or so.
Thanks for the offer. I will be calling in that favor if I ever get my idea for the SG mega match off the ground.

I was thinking more of the if it is more then 30 min from a 400 series highway I don't what to go there crowed.

Pieces of rebar stuck in the ground, with clay pigeons perched on them work well too!

That's the plan. This I can do cheap. The board kind of cringed when I asked for the cash for a 4'x8' sheet of AR400 plus the plasma cutting.

There are rumblings of a Shotgun Match happening in Waterloo this year as well! That said, if a club is wanting to host one, I would be more than happy to help with stage design, if that helps get more off the ground!

Thats good news. We need more shotgun.:shotgun::shotgun::shotgun:

1. Are you talking about Pt Elgin/Southampton area? no problem.

2. No poppers and very few steel plates = a lot of paper & slugs. I'm still sore after last years EESA shotgun match - 40 slugs - OUCH!!!

I'm up for any match, and have driven further distances to get to them.
I was in Calgary last summer and drove all the way up to Peace River to shoot a local 3 gun match.

Will be talking to my club IPSC rep this week and will see if a shotgun match is in the cards for this year.

I can sense the popularity of IPSC shotgun is growing and I'm loving it.

I got a shotgun and is interested in doing some matches with it. What is the requirement to join the matches? I have taken the black badge course for pistol and I think it is different for shotgun. Can anyone show me how to start? I am in Toronto. Thanks.
