Nordegg alberta Shoot

Just a thought...Would there be any interest in setting up some targets at various ranges in order to shoot some groups? I for one would like to shoot some groups past 1000. Never done that before. I have some official 1000 yard bench rest targets I could bring or perhaps just a 4x8 sheet of plywood with a good aiming point centered in the board would work just as well. "Patching" the holes would consist of spray painting over the holes to refresh the board for the next guy. Having some targets set up would also be handy for those of us who don't have our come-ups for the long range stuff. Might be tough to hit a gong at 1200 if we've never shot past say 500. Any feedback on this???

there will be enough guys there that can spot and help with come ups. for sure bring what ever targets your wanting to bring , the target stands i am going to bring are wood so no problem to screw a 4x8 sheet on it and we can bring masking tape to patch holes . i am gonna bring 2 quads so there will be an easy way to get down and patch . i have well over 20 steel targets ready to go and have five target stands ready.

if you have a smart phone you can download the app "ballistic fte" and i have found it to work pretty good so far its not dead on but close enough to have a spotter walk your shot in for you

Maps will be out right quick here to all that confirmed
thanks.....
i have 7 target stands and 17 gongs
SteveSummit also has around 6 stands
Dmay also has a few stands he is bringing
im gonna bring a couple of muzzle brake dividers
and a roll of Duct Tape

I be taking me camera. I have to figure out how to run the new one.
What material are ya making your stands out of Max? I have made them out of sucker rod and 2 3/8 pipe for the 2 1/2" thick 16 inch circle target. I be a 3 hour drive north of ya.
I am swinging through GP on May 1 to hit WSS, home depot and Princess auto. pm me with contact info.

I have 3 AR500 plates from 4" to 15". I was thinkin about square tubing. If I still worked in industry I would have access to a threading machine, black pipe and all the fittings and welder.

Doing the courses in Peace River in May?

Don't believe google. I figure 6 hours for you. But then I tend to let the Cummins find it's own pace.

Also how early are we shooting Saturday morning?

Sounds good. I'll scrounge up a few sheets of plywood so I can staple my targets to. Would like to see how my 6.5x284 groups past 900m as that is the longest I've shot the rifle.

Downfall to shooting groups is it will be time consuming. Constant cease fires......

If you guys don't mind, can ya post some pictures of the gong stands?

I have a few that want to make a stand for.

Yes very good point but I only want to shoot a few groups beyond 900m to see how the rifle preforms. I don't expect to have a cease fire just for me to check my groups though. I'm happy to wait until everyone decides it's a good time to head down range for one reason or another.

I'll be there late thursday or early friday, firewood is my main objective. Setting up camp is #2 and a little plinking after laying out the distances. Oh I almost forgot my bear defence perimeter. Anyone have a bear tag? I have a bear trap!
489 kms or 6 hours 11 minutes from Peace River to Nordegg at the speed limit!! Ha we'll see about that. I think thats Ontario speeds!
79.12 kms per hr. Maybe 4hrs and 45 minutes is more like it @ 110.

Ok sounds good. I'm planning to hit my range for some last minute load tuning and sight adjustments on Fri so perhaps I'll just continue on from there to Nordegg. If I'm there early enough I can give you a hand setting up. No sorry don't have a bear tag.

my show up fri after work if not sat 8 or 9 sounds like a good time
And packing a bear tag just in case one run into camp
