any tips for the future creations?

whats wrong with shooting alone? might come in handy if there is a couple of annoying people at the pit..

how you know it was a custom job :)

tis a bastard thread. .705'' 20 tpi thats a fun little internal threading job.

I have one on the magnum I had David Jennings install a bunch of moons ago. It doesn't stick
out like a sore thumb. He angles his holes forward to help the blast.
I believe that forward angling the hole helps noise reduction of the brake as well.
I does work well for me.
I don't think about recoil anymore on this setup.
At the range the brake comes off now that I own a lead sled.
The work you did looks like you spent a fair bit of time on it.
Just need to tidy it up a bit.
Taper to the barrel and not sure why you made it so long.
Have you tried it yet?
Looky.

ran out of time.

ya it kinda does stick out like a sore thumb but nothing a lathe won't fix in 10 min.

only took about 3 hours. i used a center drill in a dividing head on a milling machine that has read outs on it so the holes only took about 45 mins.

measure in at roughly 2 and half inchs and bigger is better :) and like i said notherin a lathe can't clean up in anouther 5 mins after she is chucked up.

haven't had the pleasure to let er rip yet

cross that bridge later.

How did I know? It has more holes than any brake I have seen. You did a nice job of it. My guess of use of a dividing head was right.

Had a guy make a sleeve to replace the BOSS on my Win 70. It was an odd thread as well.

Enjoy shooting solo. :)

I hate brakes but there is something about making one yourself, I would lathe it up a bit and make the barrel transition way more smooth instead of the popcan on a stick look.

Once a man utilizes a muzzle brake he is no longer a man!

Yah right. A boss I used to work for used to say, "you ain't hurt'in, you ain't work'in".
Some of us suffer sore shoulders or other recoil suffering pain.
The ones that don't must of been born like Hercule's or are just plain lazy, or don't know what hard work is all about.
Just say'in as my magnum wears a brake.:p
