Hi guys..

ive just been looking at the Accustrut for the mini 14.. it claims as much as 60% improvement in accuracy for the older mini-14.. hard figure to swallow considering it just bolts on..

so apart from making the mini look more M14ish ( which is good ) .. is this thing really worth the price ?
 
I installed a Har-Bar on one and it made a definite improvement in accuracy. Probably cut the groups in less than half. It stabilizes the barrel by reducing barrel whip and harmonics. There is also some heat transfer there too, which if one was allowed normal capacity mags - would actually matter.
 
Got a MoRod instead.

I couldn't get AccuStrut to ship to Canada. It was kind of bizarre as the owner said it had something to do with health problems. Mo Rod would ship however. I put one on my mini 30 and one on my 6.8 SPC mini. They definitely improve groups and, as importantly for me, I don't get the weird flyers when you shoot rapid fire like I used to. The stabilizer also acts as a heat sink. I would say they improve groups by 30% based on my before and after groups.
I would recommend blue loctite on the hex head screws as they came loose and moved the stabilizer forward changing the POI.

This is on my 6.8 SPC.

i've heard good things on perfectunion about them, for both the early series and the 580/581 series.
It's a shame we can't get the pre-fab ones in Canada. I know a lot of guys have been building their own using ncstar/airsoft clamps and spare aluminum filled with rubber and lead, notched at the base to slide over the gas block. Check out perfect union to find builds for them, the owner of accu-strut was even on there and was weighing in on some of the designs.
I love the look they give the minis, not to mention the accuracy.

also, uh, hint hint, wink wink any chance of some capped mini 30 5/20 or 30 rounders?
I think you would sell a few around here.
