Marlin Guide Gun 1895G - Good or Bad

I am looking at buying a guide gun as well but, you guys got me thinking i shouldnt, that the new ones are crap, no i dont know what to do.

Looks like a good gun but it has something kinda silvery growing from the top of the action, I'd carefully grind it off before it spreads any further.

I loved the iron sights as well....but age is getting the better of my eyesight. I can see a flea on a deers arse from a hundred yards, but put something 2 feet or less in front of me and it's just a blur......:redface:

Nice gun tho.....
 
I have my 1895GS and several other rifles set up with quick detachable scope mounts when I don't want the scope on I just pop it off and install a rear XS Sights either tall or low backup ghost ring sight.

I have the best of both world with this set up...

Carry a Torx wrench with you and your PRW's are quick detachable scope rings I have several sets of these rings and they return to zero when I reinstall them.

I have a few firearms that = they keep me safe when I need to be safe category my 1895GS is one of these.

So sorry the answer is "NO"...
