Help please: Powder that fill much of .45ACP brass?

Hi guys,
I will be starting pistol caliber reloading very soon(.45ACP). I'm reloading .308Win right now and it is impossible to throw a double-charge due to case capacity.

Which Pistol Powder make a double-charge the most obvious in a .45ACP case?

I know Titegroup is popular but I hesitate because of the small volume people say it has. Opinions?

Blue dot will nearly fill the case. But it will leave giant trails of unburnt powder coming out the end of the barrel.
If you are paying attention, except for the mouse fart loads, most 45 acp loads, are very obvious when you have a double charge, just from looking. Most powders take between 5-6gr, if you put 10 gr, and aren't asleep at the wheel, you're gonna notice pretty quickly.

I've used HS-6 which leaves quite a con trail too. Takes about 8 gr as I recall. Loads are available in Hodgdon's on line manual. The evidence that you've double charged will be a small pile of it on the toes of your shoes :D.

curtmg pretty much nailed it. If you pick a powder from your manual that requires say 6+ grains a double should be pretty obvious. No matter what you do, pay attention. Squibs are no joke either.

230 grain cast bullet starting load with Tite-group is 4.0. Max is 4.8. You'll easily be able to tell just by looking. Put the cases into a loading block and look.

I would prefer to see it right away if pouring a second charge.
I "TOUGH" I was looking at them after with my .308win but ended up with a empty loaded round last month. Must have been distracted. Good thing I do this gooffy thing of listenning for the powder in the ammo as a final check!LOL!(I don't use a compressed charge)

Nice thing about 45 auto, opposed to 308 win, is you can see inside the case very easily. Looking in a 308win case, what with the bottleneck, requires you to look directly in, with decent lighting. So long as you are holding a 45 auto case lower than your neck, and more than 6 inches from your face, you can see if it has no powder, the right amount, or too much. I don't find many people load with their cases at face level or higher, so that is handy.

What he said.

As an experiment, deliberately double-charge one and compare it with the rest. The difference will be pretty obvious. Digging out a flashlight and physically checking each case in your loading tray is not a bad idea at any time.
 
Another very good powder for 45 ACP is IMR SR4756. A double charge will spill out of the case which is noticeable. The other nice thing about this powder is that it meters very well out of a Dillon powder measure.

A bulky powder that measures well and gives excellent accuracy is IMR 7625. I use 6.2 gr under a 200 gr SWC.

If you put all the loaded cases in a loading block, it only takes a second to scan the block to make sure all cases have powder and none are empty. Any case loaded different than the others will be obvious.
