kel tec sub 2000

i opened up my rear sight, tapered my front post, now i can hit a clay pigeon at 100yds most of the time. Buttpad extension works great, But i find the gun a bit uncomfortable to shoot & difficult to line up the sights, But theres no way im getting rid of this!

i used a fab defense single rail barrel mount, worked out to exactly the right height for folding. most guys on the ktog site mount rails to the forend polymer, i feel that the only way to get a real solid, zero holding mount... is to mount it on the barrell. i cut my polymer forend to fit around it. i'll post pictures when its done, i ordered a compact forend from kel tec, and when it arrives , and i get it set up, ill post some pics... :)

Cabelas has some nice 28" soft cases that fit the Sub2000 pretty well. Holds the gun and some mags. About $40.00 or so. I picked one up and I'm pleased with it so far.

I heard that there were reliability issues with the Sub 2000 in .40 and this caliber rifle is no longer being brought in to Canada. Does anyone know anything about this?

I was just calling around my local shops for a pinned larger glock mag for my sub2000 thinking they may be easier to load. The guy at the shop told me that he just received a letter from the RCMP stating that it is illegal to use a 10 rd center fire pistol mag in any rifle. So all the Subs will have to be pinned to 5 rds. This will also effect your AR15 10 rd LAR mag.

Is this true, anyone know. It does say "most magazines" not all, is this a loophole.

This is from the RCMP website.

Q7. What is the maximum number of cartridges that a firearm magazine can legally hold?

A7. As set out in Criminal Code Regulations, some large-capacity magazines are prohibited regardless of the class of firearm to which the magazines are attached. As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:

•5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire long gun; or
•10 cartridges for most handgun magazines
A large-capacity magazine is not prohibited if it has been permanently altered so that it cannot hold more than the number of cartridges allowed by law. Acceptable ways to alter a magazine are set out in the regulations.

There is no limit to the magazine capacity for semi-automatic rim-fire long guns, or for other long guns that are not semi-automatics.

If you had posted the whole thing you would have read the part of the RCMP memo that specifically exempts the LAR-15 magazine from the above ruling.

i was told that the reason that the .40 was recalled was because of the barrell diameter, the .40 and the 9mm barrells are the same diameter, but because the .40 is larger it made the walls of the barrell thinner and they were having heat issues degrading the power and velocity of the .40 round. they are supposedly going to remake the barrells and re issue them. I would like to get one in a .40 when they come out. so we'll wait an see....

I know its a Kel Tec sub 2000 thread here, but does anyone know where can I get teh Kel Tec SU-16 or 16-C model in Can. ? Seems hard to find...if at all.

Right on the money. They need to make new barrels for the Canadian market anyways, so lets hope for a .40 soon Or .45, or 10mm....

And....:yingyang:...

One of these  would help !

Well worth the investment ! :)

nice, but for the moment my 2 10/33 glock mags are just fine, hardly use the 10 round (i mean 8 round) mag, after 500 rounds they are holding up well.

got mine from wolverine, but i hear there are a few more places selling em.....fire an e-mail off to vault distributors, i was told they are the canadian importer for kel tec, they probably have a list of dealers they distribute them to.
When i was at the gun show, i was told that the atf is only releasing 45 at a time into canada, thats why there are waiting lists...

Also i was told at the show by wolverine that you may as well forget getting a glock version, as they are in such high demand in the states, that they think it will be quite some time b4 any1 see's them up here....i ordered the glock version, i was on the waiting list, wolverine called and said that they got in a order of beretta versions, and offered me one...so i took it. My friend has been on the glock waiting list for a while now, suggest you take what they offer you, as you may wait a long time for a glock version....

in regards to the su-16, i would really like to get one, but i think i'll wait an see if they come out with a su-16 chambered in the .308 round. the xcr is coming out with a .308......but they are pretty expensive.. :(

I picked up a Sub2000 (Glock version) from P&D in last months shipment. It was my understanding that a good percentage of the Sub2000's coming in were the Glock version. Maybe try giving P&D a call.
