Hey guys,

What makes and models of optics would you recommend for a .50 BMG rifle?

Besides handling the recoil and having plenty of eye relief (not planning on putting a pistol scope up front) I'd like input on good mounting systems too.

I can go ultra expensive if necessary, but I really would rather keep to the lower end of what would be suitable.

Thanks!

if youve got a 50 why skimp on optics... schmidt and bender, night force, viper pst and things of that nature, there is no sence in having a rifle that big and putting a 6-700 yard scope on it im sure you could "get away" with lessed scopes like ther 6500 , sightron or somthing... but is it really worth having a sub par scope?

The 50 I have is currently wearing a cheapie, Falcon Menace 5.5-25x56FFP, about $500, however it is in Nightforce rings and on a custom steel rail. This is one of the newer versions, apparently some of the older ones were made with two piece tubes and had problems. The new ones (mine) are one piece tubes.

So far over 100 rounds (previous owner and myself). Holding up well, and although not a S&B, I can now save my pennies for a better scope.

You could also look at the Sightron scopes, better glass, and around $1000

Should see the Vortex Razor I have in stock ;)

Vortex Viper PST and Bushnell 6500 would work as well.

Funny thing is, I know someone who ran a Bushell 3200 fixed 10 Tactical on theirs and it held up with no problems.

Don't cheap out on optics!

I know NF, Primier and S&B can handle the recoil and are awsome, cheaping out on a scope is not the way to go ~ unless you mean cheaping out with a with a mark 4 or AccuPoint.
, than thats ok in a pinch!

Look at the low-cost ones that the airguners use. Spring-piston scopes are actually subject to more stress...one might work on a BMG.

This part I do some what agree with. Anything less you might as well buy an NcStar scope cuz the 50 BMG not only :HR: optics but the effective range means you willl need realy crystal clear optics to really enjoy such a rifle.
Anything less than a Darvi I wouldn't put on it and it truley calls for an S&B.
