I use 1 very good scope on 2 different Remington 700 SA rifles. (Trying to save a buck ;) )
I'm currently using inexpensive scope base and rings but will equip both rifles with "best possible" 20 MOA rail and 30mm scope rings.

What would you recommend based on your experience?
I don't mind paying for quality if I can get a repeatable zero on both rifles.

Wasting ammo and cursing in the meantime,
Alex

I don't think moving a 20MOA style rail from rifle to rifle is a good idea.
I think it would be best if you bought two seprate 20 MOA bases (EGW bases are pretty popular for the price, check their website) and a quick detach scope mount, much like this one: (mind you there are many other makes of it, I'm just giving you a basic idea)

I have owned Farrels, Leupold Mark 4's, Warne, and Nighforce. In my opinion the best is the Nightforce. It is not as bulky, its tough as nails, it has more adjustment slots, and it looks the best. It won't disappoint you.

I'm getting even more confused now

I was thinking of buying Badger Ordonance base and rings but might buy Alberta Tactical Rifles mounts since they're supposed to be better than Nightforce (not sure) and are Canadian made (sure about that ;) ).

Since I use my scope on multiple rifles, this is turning into a real headache.

If you mount true Picatinny spec rails on each rifle, then swapping a scope between them should go fine.

I've had farrel, near and nightforce. Can't really go wrong with any of them. The Farrel is definately the tallest if that matters to you. I currently run near for the 25moa.

Height is a liability since I also use my scope on a rail equipped black rifle...
I'll probably got with the highest quality solution since I'm wasting high quality ammo rezeroing my scope each time it changes rifle.

I'm just looking for the best Remington 700 SA Picatinny rail to solve my problem once and for all.

Life too short (to waste time shooting and not hitting your target ;) ),

I have found most rails too short to mount a high power scope (6.5-20 or 36x) and retain some eye relief with my glasses. EGW have a longer base and are reasonably priced. Buy one for each rifle. Use bedding compound under the base to ensure 100% contact. Pick one rifle, zero the rifle and then adjust the knobs to read "0" for elevation and windage. When the scope is mounted on any other rifle bore sight it (ask if you don't know how - no tools needed). Record the scope adjustment in your record book, or masking tape on the stock. The scope should be able tobe interchange between rifle and re zeroed with little or loss of adjustment.
