The description alone tells you something. This is a concealment holster meant to keep the gun close to the body. It also has security retention that is not desirable in a game/competition holster where many designs angle the gun outward from the body (outward cant or offset) to make it easier to draw quickly. If you are interested in IPSC, this would not be an ideal choice. Go to the web sites and look at the competition holsters and you will see what I mean or better still look at Wendell's post #5. I'm not as familiar with IDPA rules that do include approved holster lists.

Idpa

Not since 2005.

That's interesting to me. I got an IDPA membership as I travel in the US every year and wanted to be able to participate in whatever was available. Does this me that my Blade Tech OS rigs would be OK? I have various hardware and can set the same holster up to drop straight or on a paddle. I have a SIG P-226 Equinox that is pretty standard and an X-Five that has been worked over by Gray Guns which included some sculpting of the frame and qualifies for what we call "Standard" here in Canada for IPSC. I think it would be a "Limited 10" in the US. I also have a 1911 and a S&W .357 PC 627 V-Comp. The comp is easily removed. I have a bunch of holsters including the Blade Techs for everything but the revolver. I have a leather pancake style rig for the 1911. I use a CR Speed for IPSC and I assume that wouldn't qualify for IDPA but I'm now guessing that most of the other stuff would. I would appreciate your comments.
