Hi Everyone,

I just got myself a Remington Model 700 Laminate Thumbhole Special run, camber in 30-06.

I have a bushnell legend 6-12x 40mm with Leopold mounts.

I'm looking for Tips on Zeroing in the scope.
And anything else that can make this a very nice Sporting Rifle.

Is Federal Power-Shok 180grain Soft points good for sporting? I.e Target shooting with a side of deer hunting.

This is my first High-power rifle, I've zero in a .22 rifle scope but not very well.
The easiest range I have access to only have a 50 yard range, but it's indoors so no wind mess with...
With the rifle I got 2 boxes of Federal Power-Shok 180grain Soft points. (40 rounds total)
 
Step #1.
Take your scope and run the elevation adjustments down to either the bottom or the top.Count the clicks til you hit the other end.Divide by two and set the scope halfway.Do the same for the windage.
Step #2.
Take the rifle to the range and set up a large paper target at 25m.Fire a shot and see where it goes.Then adjust the scope,firing a few more shots until you are basically hitting center.Doesn't have to be perfect.
Step #3.
Set up a target at 100m and re zero.Should be pretty close now.Record data for 100m zero if possible.
Step #4. Do it again for whatever range you think you want to have it zeroed for hunting.

Your ammo should work just fine!

Step 1
The Scope dials are already marked, should I do it just the same?
also when I bought the rifle and the scope, they bore sight it already.

step 3 and 4,
I'll need to find an outdoor range for that...
