FN FAL Value?

The really evil thing about grandfathering and prohibited weapons is that truely a great condition fn fal should be worth around a thousand dollars maybe more instead there worth about 600 dewatted and some collector is eventually going to be buying them for a 100 bucks each as he'll be the last holder of the liscencing.

The prohib section is by far the best example of how far the anti's got into the pc goverment, not likely to see any reversals of the prohib list any time soon, if we can keep the cpc in power for 10 years we may.

...and up. Unfortunately depends on exactly which one(s) and if someone has that hole in their collection. An Indian 1A goes around $300, but Marstar had a 12-5 receiver with German G-1 parts that sold for $1600, and I am kicking myself for missing it.

I have heard of a case where someone went to an auction and was the only qualified (prohib licensed) bidder, so got every FN rifle in an estate auction for under $200 each, some of which should have gone $800-$1000.

Too hard to do more than give a range to offer, but expect to get less than you want.
 
I suspect if we're talking the REAL FN FAL, as originally imported in the late 60's or so, we're talking big bucks, not the military surplus stuff you guys are talking about.

While you chaps are on the topic of FN's, I have a question for you. I came across a list of some 1800+ Belgian made FN's that were imported into the U.S. in the early 1960's. As I scanned the list, I noticed "gaps" in the serial number ranges (for example the 1300 range) and was wondering what the reason for those "gaps" might be ? Any thoughts ? I'd love to own an FN, but I'll probably be worm food before that ever happens !
