I received my ORA membership card in the mail this week and am ready to head out and do some shooting. I was wondering what the protocol was to go about attending a day to shoot? And what will be expected of me when I arrive.

Another question I have is that I have a new gun (700 SPS varmint .243) and wanted to do some load development, preferably at 200 yards. It seems that the precision shoots this Sunday is 200-800 yards so I was hoping to attend. I am wondering how much time I would have at the 200 yard line to do my development as that is probably all I would be shooting on that day?

Thanks for any help and advice.

Precision Sunday May 15

I would recommend that you do your load development prior to attending this Sunday's Precision shoot. We will be shooting at ranges starting at a 400 yard moving target and then moving back to 600, 700 & 800 yards at Figure 11/59 targets. Details of these matches can be found on the ORA website under Disciplines. Hope this helps.................

Load development would be best at 300 yards. If you attend one of the Swiss Club days on the ORA program, they spend the entire day at 300. You could get on a target with some other ORA members and shoot.

If you found another guy doing load dvelepment at the range, pair up with him and mark targsts for each other. Yu would eb shooting groups. bring a pair of CB radios, if you have them, so you can talk to each other and dictate what should be writtn on each group.

Thats how I do it.

Excellent advice from Ganderite.
Too bad you did not post last week. OSA had a practice weekend at MilCun Training Center. A number of folks were doing barrel breakin, load testing, chronographing, checking zeros from 100m back to 600m.
