Shorten PAL Approval Times

Aside from the absurd notion that someone in a government department must re-mark tests which have already been marked, it is obvious you guys in Ontario are getting the run-around deliberately by the Liberals.
How long does it take to mark a test (whether it is for a first time or for a second time), about 2 minutes? Two people could knock off about 1000 per day, the 6-8 week delay is a pure scam. Do you think they have a stack of 40,000 tests sitting there every day?
That would mean over 10 million new gun owners in Ontario every year.

I have a quick question about section G on the PAL form.

Can someone please clarify question c;

Have you been certified by the Chief Firearms Officer as meeting the safety training requirements OR have you successfully completed a course approved by the Attorney General of Manitoba or Quebec prior to 1995?

I know the later half of the question does not apply to me. I challenged the PAL and RPAL and passed both. Just not clear on the first half of the question.

I don't want to fill out something wrong and delay my application more than it will be in Ontario.

Thanks!

Father. What type of license? RPAL. For some reason I thought that there were other people on this string from Ontario that have received their licenses in 28 days. You have me worried now.

Faxing Test Results

Hi Everyone,

I have a question to those who had faxed in their certified test results. Did you use the main fax number (613-825-0297) or where you advised to use another.

Thanks in advance!

Just ignore it if you have passed the tests, it only applies to someone claiming that they do not need to pass the CFSC test because 1) they have passed the old Man. or Que. tests or 2) they have a certificate from their CFO stating they meet the requirements and don't need to do the CFSC course.

App was received on May 2nd, and it's still not in their system at all... I really hope this whole process is over soon. It's really starting to take the fun out of it! Back in February when I wrote the tests I was so exited, now I don't even care about shooting any longer. argh!

This is the message my wife got this morning when she checked her status online:

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

She called the CFO in the middle of the afternoon on Friday and she checked online Sat and Sunday and it was approved first thing this morning.

So, When she called on Friday (her 45th day) the officer offered to "bump" her in line and it looks like she was!! If my wife had not called after 45 days to inquire she would still be waiting as they had told her they were 2 months behind.

Good on the original poster of this thread for putting up such helpful information.

I just got off the phone with one of the bureaucrat at Miramichi office ,apparently there
will be additional 3 week wait until they update my status (stamped test results sit there for more then week now)

Hey just curious if anyone has run into this issue. My license has been issued today, I called the CFC and they said I could answer my security questions and get my PAL number from the alberta CFO. They transferred me to the alberta CFO office. After talking to a number of different people there, they told me that they can not give out my PAL number to me over the phone. But they will give it out to the executive of the Rifle and Revolver club in my area through email. I was asking why they can give my PAL number to someone I have never met but will not give it to me over the phone as this does not make sense to me. But they would not give me a straight answer. Has anyone else had this happen?

27 days today my interview is done but still has not called anyone else. the waiting game is killing me.haha

27 days. Today is only day 1 for me - it was signed for this morning.

However yesterday was a fun day. One of the local indoor ranges here in the GTA had a Glock Day with special pricing. I shot the G17, G22 and G21 which was great fun. I decided to go with the G17 Gen 4 and I could get the special Glock Day pricing when my RPAL arrives, if I purchased a gift certificate in that amount. I purchased the gift certificate and I am being reinburst by my better half because she said she would get me my first HG. :D

The news gets even better. I get home and there's a voicemail advising me that my name was drawn and I won the grand prize door prize - a G17 Gen 4. :D :D :D

Now I have 2 gift certificates!

Like Hickok45 always says, "Life is good."
