Shorten PAL Approval Times

Just got off the phone with Mr. Cugnett, a CFO with the Province. My previous criminal record was the issue.

The conversation lasted all of 60 seconds, he said I should see my licence in the mail in about 10-11 days.

CFSC courses - Mar 8-10
mailed Application - Mar 13
App received - Mar 22
Status "Approved" - May 5
Card received - May 12

:)

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.
If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

And it was funny too, when he pulled my CPIC this is what he said,

CFO - "I see you were fingerprinted in 2006."
me - "~sigh~ Yeah."
CFO - "Says here you had a 'blank' charge."
me - "Yeah. Not real proud of that moment in my life, rather ashamed of it."
CFO - "Arghh... Don't worry about it, I get all kinds of guys that have a 'blank' on their record.
me - "Well I'm still not proud of it..."
CFO - ~pause while I can hear keyboard keys clicking~ "So you should get your card in about 10 or 11 days, if you don't just call us back."
me - "Thank you very much Mr. Cugnet. Have a wonderful weekend sir."

* he also mentioned at the very beginning how it was "good to see someone over 20-25 y/o applying."

;)

Not as far as I know. A "dropped" or "dismissed" charge would still show on the CPIC.

I used "blank" to give the name of my charge some anonymity.

I got a call yesterday from the RCMP about my application, the usual stuff they ask for a restricted license application from what I've heard. However they only called one of my references. I thought they were to call both of them, or maybe they were satisfied with talking to just one?

The reference they called was my girlfriend, so I trust her that she didn't say anything wrong, but I checked my status online and it still says:
"Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date. "

I'm wondering if I should give them a call and see what's up?
My application was recieved by the RCMP on the 4th of April.

Passed Exams: Feb 27th
Received PAL test results: April 26th
Mailed Application: April 29th
Application Received: May 2nd
Received RPAL test results: May 6th

Feb 27th - May 6th... wow

Now that my application is already in, is there a fax number or email I can send these RPAL results in to? Or do I have to snail mail it?

Kevn. If you call in and ask, they will give it to you. I have the # at work. Sorry but call and they will tell you how to fax it so that it gets married up with your app and not lost. Lost info causes huge delays.

you need to call them...my experience is squeaky wheel gets the grease

28 days

No, that is what the instructors are obliged to tell you, send the application in, get the 28 days started, then send in the stamped results.

I took the PAL course last month and the RPAL last week...instructors actually gave us a heads up to mail in our applications w/o test results to get the ball rolling...and follow-up with mailing results in when we received them.

These guys were the best!

does anyone know how long the delay is currently between the RCMP receiving your application and it actually being worked on? it's been a week now since they received it and it still doesn't show as being in their system

At least a couple of weeks. I mailed mine April 6th and they received it April 11th however it did not show up on their online system until April 27th. I received a letter from them later that week dated April 26th.

Slow but steady. It is not the RCMP that is slowing things up for me, it is the Ontario CFO who have yet to send my approved test results.

Hang in there.

they received mine april 4th, i called them two weeks ago and did my interview and asked them to call my references, they did. i just got my license today....gun shopping here i come!!!

I completed my Rpal test on March 9th and 10, and I'm still waiting for my stamped test to be returned...I've called the CFO however it's difficult to get through and if you do get to speak with "Deb" well she really doesn't give much of an answer...I'm waiting for her return call tomorrow...Hopefully she'll tell me it's in the mail...I'm beginning to think it is a Political stall type of issue...

Rtangri. Called the CFO again today. They advised that they are working on the last week of March as of today so let's hope. I will check again next week if I do not receive them by then.
