Looking for some info on a double s&s 12 gauge shotty.looking for age # starts at 281... Also what it might be worth
 
I think you will have to supply a lot more info to get value or better yet post pics. Sauer made different models of varying degrees of quality. However if you look on tradeexcanada.com they have a number for sale and they aren't too expensive. Of course they probably aren't the top of the line models. Also check on line sites such as gun broker or guns international to get an idea of price. However you have to see selling prices to really know what a gun is worth.
 
You can email SigSauer - as they're located in Eckernforde, where your gun was probably made. They should be able to help you with some information. Having emailed them about mine, they were at least able to provide a date of manufacture based on their records. Worth a shot!

Also disassemble the gun, look under the barrel lump for any stampings or Proof Marks, as they should also provide some information.
 
How do you tell what model Sauer you have? I have 3 but only know the model on one because it is stated on the barrel as a Royal and was sold and registered as such (guess that still doesn't make it correct). The 2 other I have no idea.
 
Yes, if it says Royal on it then that is the model. That is the model my grandfather had. Don't know about the other two. Maybe check guns international or guns america to see if you can find your other guns listed there and you might be able to figure out model.
