Rumours of a new .22mag round.. True or False?

I have been hearing some rumours of a new .22 mad round, stating they will give the .17 hmr a run for the money? Can anyone confirm??

Yeah, it's called .223 but it aint new.

I have not heard of this from anywhere however.

As for giving HMR a run for it's money, I don't know. I did buy a Savage 93FV .22WMR and 200 rounds of this stuff to try in the coming weeks...so I'll let you know what I think when I finally hit the range. Not expecting it to shoot as flat as an HMR, but I'm finding my groundhog shots are mostly within 100 yards...enjoying the sneaking-up part too much I think. Anyhow, my CZ .17 HMR is doing the job nicely, but I've always been curious about trying .22WMR, so that ammo. has been part of the inspiration to do just that.
