Alright ... just received this new Red dot.. it is Russian "Kobra" sight, extra light aluminum design, used currently by Russian special forces. Even though it might look a bit oversized, it is super comfortable with galil cheek rest, and it lines up with a center of the bore perfectly. What do you guys think..?

What's the thingy that you took off in the later pics, a sunshade?

Can you remove the receiver cover and bolt carrier with it installed?

yes Stevo.. it is a sunshade, which will also prevent the lens from getting dirty quickly or wet in case of rain, not to mention it will probably stop a few casings from going into the lens.

And yes the dust cover and bolt carrier can be removed without dismounting the sight, but when putting it back together, i had to guide a lower dustcover spring into the hole with a screw driver, since there is not much room to wiggle it around.

nice! how much and where from? i really like that folding stock. pm me with details if you dont want to say here. thanks!

Thanks! It was $450 shipped from Belarus. ordered from here: ht__tp://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/cobra.html

Thanks for the info. It's very handy not to have to dismount it.

What sort of batteries does it use and what's the expected battery life? Dot size?

Send it to me and I'll test it out for you.;)

Nice score on the Kobra! They are quite sought after as the current plant who makes them have stopped its operations.

I have to say this is my favourite rifle you have in your bunch as it is the most no nonsense.

Dmitri that is one bad ass looking VZ you've got yourself! I've never been much of a fan of the VZ series at all, but your rifle has changed my tune completely. The folding stock, flash suppressor, plus the red dot must make the rifle incredibly practical for just about anything, and plus I bet it's an absolut thrill to shoot. Nice job!

Have you shot it yet ?? because you might have a issue with ejection ? the VZ ejects cases straight up it might hit the sunshade?

It will be just fine. I use similar setups on my other CZs using 4x24 POSP scopes and they cover a lot more, not only this red dot is significantly further back, the sunshade is ruber and will deflect the casing if necessary.

where did you get it from? They have not. Factory is up and running. The model "ЭКП-1С-03" (I believe the one that Dmitri has) is in production. They are not cheap that is why we never imported them. But if there is a real demand we can bring them in...

I would be interested in one, think you could do a write up in the optics section?
I'd really like to see the reticles and the brightness settings. (i think some other gunnutzs would as well!)

scope mount and scope 1 piece?

how much did you pay for it?

Well there are bolts on the side of the mount so i would guess, that in comes apart in to 3-4 pieces, but the red dot it self can not be mounted on the weaver base, only side mount... Price is $400 + shipping/handling.

I will when ever i get a chance.. but for now you can see the reticules on their website.

I think I like you!

Nice job, she looks real purrty. Never seen that optic before, but it looks like it was made for that rifle!

thanks Paul, yes it really does match the rifle nicely.

I had a chance to sight it in on Saturday, and i was very pleased, even with a "Heavy brake" i was getting consistant groups 2-3 inches at 40m, and 6-8 inches at 100m (wow, i didnt expect that from a short barrel).. next renge trip i'll have a bit more time, i'll take pics and make a more detailed report....

I was told this info from Tantal on tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru, something to do that it is a state run operation and that their fundings are cut off right now, and that PK-AS from Belurus is stealing all the thunder.

I was told whatever is left is what is left, and no more new ones are being made.
