Custom dies from Lee Precision experiences?

Greetings,

Has anyone dealt with ordering custom dies directly from Lee Precisions? I was thinking of getting a custom collet neck sizing die made for the 35 whelen.

I have the custom collet dies from them (I sent them 2 fire formed cases and 2 bullets) and I'm real happy with the ammo I can produce with them. Last week I shot a 5 round group at 300yds that was less than 1/2 MOA.

Thanks Pathfinder. I did not consider Hornady before. I just might this time since the price seems just right compared to Redding.

Did you order yours directly from Hornady?

I have 2 custom sets + case trimmers from Lee.

No problems with orders and I will use their services again.

Make a very specific written request when ordering if you want your brass back-don't forget that.

Cool donor,

It seems there are options with which neck sizers out there. I am currently using the Lee collet neck sizer for my 308 and works really well and accurately.

How long did it take donor?

The reason I use these dies is they will produce ammo with very little runout and no "donut" and they are very affordable. They sent my brass + bullets back without me requesting them. Mine took about a month.

no, it was from Russell's at the time which was bought out by WSS. Should be able to get them anywhere that sells Hornady dies etc. Last time I had Lee make anything custom for me it too several months and it was only for a case lenght gauge.

Here's a dumb question regarding neck sizing dies...do the regular ones work for an AI chambered rifle? IE, .257 Roberts and .257 Roberts AI?

Lee Collet die

The Lee collet die for 243 win works fine for the 243Ackley. They must be set up correctly in the press.

I think it took about 6-8 weeks to get dies.Long ,true,but I'm not in a hurry-I can wait.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know from my 308 Lee collet that the run out is almost nil but I'm curious how Redding and Hornady deals with runout on their neck sizing dies?

I have a custom Lee Collet die for the 270 Wby. Case life and accuracy are both excellent using this die.
