Okay, Guys, my wife and I were just talking about how devastating this must be, and how it would have affected friends if it had happened here in Whitehorse. I am thinking we can step up to the plate for an unfortunate CGN member today. Folks there will have many needs, but if you know of anyone from Slave Lake who has a valid PAL, and lost all their firearms in the fire, we could help them out.

I for one, will help get somebody get equipped to go hunting this fall. It won't be a Sako or a Sauer, but it will be reliable and more than accurate enough to bag a moose or a deer this coming season. You can PM myself, or anyone else who expresses an interest in helping out, and we'll get the ball rolling.

For sure, if you personally have lost everything to the fire, contact one of us.

I know not everyone can give away a rifle, but maybe there's a sleeping bag you haven't used for a while, or something else that would help a kid get out with his dad this fall.

Trusting this will be honourably carried out, and not abused.

.......You going to handle this Ted.

Hi Rich,

I just edited my original post. Wasn't intending that I should have to be the one they contact, just that we might be able to help out.

Perhaps if we just posted that we have been contacted by a member with a name to help, then the person being helped can take it from there and express his thanks on the site.

Make sense?

This community is second to none....Brings a tear to my eye. :) Good for you all who contribute to this cause. Having had the same thing happen to my family last summer, i am not able to contribute a rifle myself.
The pouring in of support that we received, was unforgettable. From mods/admin, family, and friends, we were able to move on, and start over.
I was fortunate myself, to be able to save my guns.

A co-worker has his house right in the middle of the fire to the west of town. As far as he knows it is still standing. Having helped him aquire some of his collection, I was willing to help out if all was lost. My wife and I have donated toys and clothes but for sure would help others if we can.

This is top notch of you guys to come to plate for people who have lost everything, I myself was lucky, the fire passed through our acreage narrowly missing my home and my fathers by 50 yards(as of three days ago), I'm very proud to be a part of this community and would be happy to help someone get prepared for the upcoming season! Let me know what you guys have in mind for organizing this
Cheers

Ted,

that is a great idea. as you know we just moved and money is low but im offering two new set of knives one is a kodi pak (never used) and another one is a butcher kit (never used too).

we just need to know where to give or ship them.

all the best.

I have a antique percussion smoothie halfstock that I would donate to a man that lost all his black powder kit.

I just got the nipple out so shes ready to go.... For a man that lost his whole collection this is a humble start but you know she kept a few familys fed in her life;).
