Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with the HERA GLOCK 9mm conversion kit (much discussed here) vs. the B&T TP9?

I have a TP9 and its easily described as SWISS (enough said ;)) accuracy and dependability to the point of boring. The 5/15 and 5/30 round mags are often pinned too snug for 5 rounds ... and that has been my ONLY DEFICIENCY with regards to the system. The trigger pull is consistent and smooth for a "rifle" ... but longer than say .. a GLOCK. Im many ways its a HUGE GLOCK with a rail and great ergonomics. With the right optics this thing drives tacs all day long. But again .. the 5 round rifle rule really does suck ass :(

The HERA kit is slick. Ive seen and handled a few of them ... Given the improoved ergonomics .. are they as accurate as a TP9? I especially like the interchangeability of the standard 9mm mags and the 10 round Capacity

Any opinions or first hand experience woule be appreciated. :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

I have tried most Glock drop in kits like Hera,Roni and another one i cant think of the name right now.I have also owned the TP9.I realy regret selling the TP9 but dont miss the others.
I will eventually buy another TP9 if i can find one for a decent price.

thats speaks volumes to the TP9. Perhaps the HERA is somewhat limiting to the the application. I would get dime sized groups with an Eotech at pistol distances with the TP9 ... unfortunately a little big.

The new Micro dots look promising...

I've fired both and I'd rather have a purpose built gun than a kit. The HERA is the best of all the kits and works great. TP9 is fantastic.

The 5 round limits suck (same as with my USC/UMP conversion) but the things you are describing (accuracy, quality) are what make the TP9.

Glocks are good handguns, but the moving barrel simply kills the accuracy, compared to a carbine/Machine pistol type gun, with the fixed barrel and much smaller bolt (as opposed to a slide) reducing the recoil for faster follow up shots. That, and the TP9 is purpose built to do what it does. The optics on the HERA kit will NEVER be as good as the B&T because its not a rail system fixed to the gun & barrel.

I think an AImpoint Micro, or maybe a Docter Optics would look much better on that thing than the ol' iffytech :p

Or maybe even a Primary Arms one, good price for a decently made optic.

I have the Hera Arms kit with a G17 inside, I simply LOVE it! Its tons of fun to shoot, accurate (as accurate as a glock can be), has great ergonomics, and lots of rails for vertical grips, optics, back up sights, and maybe a flashlight if needed.

I’ve never shot the TP9, but if anyone in the London Ontario area has one and wants to compare them side by side, I’d be up for it.

Oh and the 10 round magazine limit is very nice too!

OK .. HERA kit has arrived. Thanks to the Goodness of the CGN E/E!
* nice thing about the HERA is that once I find a dedicated upper assembly - I can multitask my G 34 model by swapping out uppers.

Will post a side by side (B&T TP9 vs HERA G17 GCC) range report with the comparable red-dot or Eotech in the coming weeks. :)

A little OT but has anyone here found a source for the longer barrel on the TP9? I would love to de-restrict mine and go bush plinking.

Had a TP9. Sold it and got a Hera kit. Sold that and got another TP9. End of story. The Hera kits are better than any other Glock stock I have tried but they just don't compare to the TP9.

I just got a Fab Defense KPOS, like how it looks, haven't shot it yet.

You'll love it, trust me. The KPOS is IMHO the best conversion kit for the Glock available now. I'd say it's even better then the TP9 since it has most of the same drawbacks except you're not limited to 5 rounds magazines or 9mm and it's cheaper.

I've got mine built on a G21 with a 6" storm lake barrel that's been set up to fire .45 super. It's like having a subgun that fires .41 magnum! :D

I like the ability to use the G21. LOTS. - But there is a HERA 1911 kit I wanted to try.

My side by side thus far ...

They are comparable dimensions...
