My SR22 ... Redux (New Pics! updated 18-05-2011 !!)

Question for all people who have guns like the OP has shown us (BTW, AWESOME!!! I want it!)

What do you do with these guns? Bench shooting and varmint hunting? Or do you ever do, forgive me as I hate this term, "Run and Guns" (Minus the pistol though)?

Like you would see Nutnfancy do on youtube?

Example:

My brother and I have both sent away for our non-restricted PALs, and we have access to my fathers 130 acre farm. We were going to build a range in one of the fields that is already closed in on 3 sides with walls (hills) 80 feet high. And we wanted to these kind of drills. However with our space, we will only be doing one shooter at a time.

So I guess the final question is. "good idea or bad idea?"

First off .. no you can't have it .. lol :D

I use mine mainly to hunt small game (partridge, rabbit etc), but also find time to do a lot of range/bench shooting. Mostly for site ins, I am constantly taking it apart and changing something so I always go and re-zero and make it's still shooting straight. Problem with that is that it's no fun just shooting a few rounds ;)

Lastly, it all depends on what you want. When I put mine together I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like, it's been through 3 different setups before I settled on the ones you see in the pics. And it still is not done until my parts come back from Arma-Coat .. lol. So good idea if you like tinkering and making something nice for yourself, bad idea if you don't have the surplus cash to buy all the parts :D I broke the piggy bank on my build :D :p

Great idea!! - Just invite me out
Also, I know it's hardly a substitute for a firearm, but maybe purchase an air pistol for transitioning to ;)

Hmmm good idea Utah, that didn't even pop into my mind. There are some good Air Pistols out there with the blowback action too. hmmmm. Also Utah, I'll call you the night before and you can come out and shoot with us the next day. Only like a 3 hour drive from you to Ontario right? :p

First step though is getting a gun like the OP and tricking it out! :D

Thanks all, it's changing again ... :D lol

I sent some parts over to Armacoat to get an FDE job done on a few choice pieces. I hope it all turns out the way I want it to.

Hey jt, what are the front and rear sights and where can they be purchased?

Thanks,

Those are just KAC knock offs that I got off of milsig.ca ... they work well enough. I wasn't going to spend $400+ on the real ones, I think I've spent too much money as it is on this project :D

New pics of rifle coming up, hopefully I'll be getting my parts back from Armacoat tomorrow ... stay tuned!

according to my math.....that is one very nice rifle. haha
I had to do a double take at the ubr on it ! wow.
I don't want to know the total cost of setting that up, but betting its a good thing its a RF.
Nice build.

I did ask for them back in Dec. They are just finally getting to me. I actually tried to change my mind, but the Magpul pusher knew how to get an addict to commit :D :p
I hear ya JT.. I'm expecting a delivery tomorrow from said pusher that I've been waiting on since Feb... magpul's been so backed up on these Gen2's, it's crazy! Brand new set in FDE will find purchase on my SR tomorrow.. as well as a couple Pmags & dress for the SU-16 I'm waiting on..
This looming postal strike is giving me a headache - those guys can't walk any earlier than midnight Tuesday, so that should give em just enough time to find my address, then walk - Blaxsun was good enough to xpresspost my shipment at no charge without me even asking, just to try and get it to me before the strike - good guy! :ar15:
