Kimber or Cooper - push me off the fence!

Update... I picked up a mint Kimber 8400 Montana in .270 off the EE and I love it. Haven't had a chance to try any variety of ammo or hand loads yet, but first range trip I used the "cheap" blue box Federals just to get it on the paper and it will put 3 into an inch so it looks like the gun should be a solid performer once I put a little more time into it. Sure, the 8400M is not super light like the SA, but I really wanted a .270 and I am very pleased with the fit/finish etc. on the Kimber.

Now I'm looking for a Kimber 84 Montana in .204 and am seriously considering a Cooper M54 in .220 Swift, 22-250AI or 22-250. These darn quality rifles are addictive.

Excellent, if you get a chance to handload for it try the 140 Accubond by Nosler, my 270 WSM gives excellent accuracy and has performed beautifully on two whitetails.

I would only buy a Kimber in the short action cartridges where they are unique, a 5 1/2 pound hunting rifle.

In the 270 they are a standard weight rifle, not interesting anymore.

Look at Sako.

You picked the right gun in my opinion, I'm crusty and opinionated and don't like push feeds, so the Kimber trumps the competition. I prefer Kimber to Sako naturally too, enjoy your rifle.

There's no mountain hunting in my immediate future so rifle weight (within reason) is not a factor and I'm very happy with my .270. But I would like to find an 84M in 7mm-08 but they seem to be a rare gem anymore.
