CSA Carbine gas system issue..

Me and my friend went to Target Sports one day, and bought two identical CSA carbines . i used a "Heavy" brake and he got the "Hybrid"..
So this weekend when we were trying them out we noticed that his gas system was acting weird. No stoppages, or feeding issues, but the gases that came out from the two little ports under the gasblock were so powerful, it burned the hand every shot leaving some kind of particles burned into the skin, regardless if we held it by the h/g or the vertical grip.. also when we opened the gas piston covers to compare, his piston was sparkling clean, and mine was dirty as usual even though the same amount of shots were made....

Here is the picture of the damage it made to my hand.. :)

it actually felt that those werent just gases, but also some led particles or something...

So i was thinking .. this could be a different piston that was put in by accident, where the machined slot on the head of the piston didnt line up with ports correctly so most of the gases went out through the ports ... but then why did the gun functioned perfectly.?

Any thoughts on what might of happen..?

I think it is the same from the top, but on the bottom, where the ports are, his has straight edges and ports on the bottom like on regular 858, and mine has beveled edges, which redirects the ports a litle sideways.. Hard to explain... I'll take some pics later.

It's possible the gas block is installed a little off or the size of the ports are out of spec. I've also seen gas blocks move slightly when the gun is shot if the pin isn't installed correctly.

The particulate matter in your hand is probably unburnt powder residue.

The different muzzle devices wouldn't cause this issue.

Regardless it's a warranty issue, have your friend send it back.

I agree, sending it back is a best option.
Hopefully there aren't too many lemons like that among these new CSAs.

Interesting, never heard this before, have you witnessed it? I know Stevo has tried one on his CSA carbine. Perhaps he will comment.

I've noticed some sting to it when using a VFG and not wearing gloves. Since I've dumped the VFG on my carbine and I generally wear gloves, it's not an issue.

I shot my 7.62 CSA carbine today using the factory cz muzzle break , i never got burned or felt any hot gasses .. different muzzle breaks will cause a different gas pressure curve in the gas system . i noticed this when i took my muzzle break off the spent cases did not eject nearly as far. i know the Russian AK74u will not function 100% with no muzzle break attached..

I got CSA from Target Sport and below my unpleasant experience:
I called to find out if you have ability to test issue with rifle, gunsmith started to talk about getting ATT, I did get temp ATT in order to bring in rifle, when I called today to make sure gunsmith is there and asked him that if he will be able to to do couple test shots to see issue(simple question) as I know not all closed ranges allow shooting 7,62x39. On that simple question, I got response as having ATT and other papers, I told him that I have and asked him again ih he is be able to answer my question about test shots. He started again talking about documents, and then he just dropped the line. When I called back and asked him, what is the reason he dropped this call, he replied that I am getting on his nerves? I get rifle from the store, I have issue with it, I asked question about if I bring it, will gunsmith will be able to do test shots to prove my issue before sending to the manufacturer. At the end, it might be small issue and might prevent from sending to the manufacturer and get issue fixed on the spot. I get response from store rep(gunsmith) that I am getting on his nerves, that's just WOW.

Good thing that I have warranty up to 1 year, that I can test rifle myself with different option to make sure that is not issue with gas piston or muzzle break.

Your not allowed to shoot 7.62x39 at Target Sports anyways. Unless they carry frangibles? I'm not even sure if they make frangibles in that caliber. I've been hearing more and more negative experience's in dealing with Target Sports customer service so I'm not all that surprised.

That was my question to gunsmith, if he can perform couple test shots, just no point for taking rifle fir gunsmith there to look into without any testing, As for getting simple Yes or No would do the trick.
