Super Accurate Repeaters?

So if I was looking to buy a super accurate repeater in .22LR, what would be some to look at?

In single shots there are the 40X, Suhl's and so on. Is there anything that offers an equivalent level of barrel, action and trigger quality, but has a mag fed action? Maybe a biathlon rifle? Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Mark

In my experience, the marlin model 60 and the remington 597vtr are VERY accurate. The 10/22 is not accurate unless you spend some extra $$$.

Edit: sorry, I misread your post as looking for a semi-auto. Disregard. I don't know about SUPER accurate but in my experience the savage mark 2 with accu-trigger is a tac driver.

Kimber SVT
Mossberg 144 LSB or LSA
Walther KKJ

Not really as high up as the ones you listed but still all are very accurate.

For a semi auto I've been very impressed with my T/C R55 and CCI standard ammo. 5 round groups at 100 yards 1 moa.

Try some eley in your tc, you will be very surprised.

The 40x and Winchester 52's were available as repeaters...

The biathlon rifles are also top contenders (FWB, Anschutz, IZHMASH)

It just depends how much $$ you want to trow at this, how fast do you want/need to be able to reload... and how heavy/light does the rifle have to be...

I didn't know about the 40X as a repeater, I forgot to list the 52's in my original post.

I want it for range use practice in 3 position shooting, casual silhouette and the like. I would prefer a shortish, heavy barrel. Weight is no issue, it will not be a carry rifle. The most carrying would be out to a field for gopher duty. I can't say that cost is no issue, but I do realize that what I'm looking for is not going to come cheap.

For those that don't realize what kind of accuracy I am talking about, here is a target pic posted by Eagleye as shot by his 40X. 50m, 10 shot groups.

You would be hard pressed to find any sporter that would equal consistency like that. Perhaps a KKJ or an Anschutz 1700 series. There are other features of Eagleye's rifle that make it conducive to shooting tight groups - including the driver.
The 40X sporters that have been made are from the Rem custom shop only and were never a production model - consequently very few and highly prized.

With you wanting the rifle for a variety of activities including target work, you may want to go with something CZ,Anschutz that has a repeatable trigger feel to optimize the learning curve. There is a reason that the Anschutz 54/1700 series dominates in RF rifle silhouette. They are the best readily available sporting rifle that with few modifications are up to the task of providing match grade accuracy, with the features required and still meet the weight limit in the hunter class - 8.5# incl sights. The Anschutz 1712FWT is purpose built for silhouette and the growing practice is to use the rifle in both the Standard Rifle and Hunter classes.

There may be other brands used but you would not find a top flight competitor using a Marlin,Savage or T/C. Ask Cathy Winstead what she uses for competition equipment.

Repeater: Anschutz 54.18 MSR (1808 Wood or McMillan synthetic thumbhole stocks)
Semi-auto: TC R-55 Benchmark

Unfortunately both are discontinued, but you might find one used.

I only have sporter models, but, my Anschutz is a wee-bit more accurate than my Browning 52. The key is the ammunition you feed your .22. Heck, your much least costly (by no means cheap) Savage model will perform rather well with quality ammo.

My rests are not normally a bench, yet, feel confident putting rounds consistently into a dime at 50 yards without problem. When I do put the rifles on a bench, I have grouped like your pic.

mmattockx,

if you like, some saturday you can take the short drive North (just stop by 5 guys burgers and fries and bring me a bacon cheeseburger) and you can try a

Unique Target t_sm
Anschutz 1710
Walther KKJ-T

all of which will produce targets like eagle eyes,

The TC R-55 comes very close as does a worked CZ

Time to post some examples of these claims. I'd sure like to see 'em. Let's say 4/ 5 shot groups .

Had my camera along this time, this is a cz scout 6 shot group, wind over 10mph, Had a TC R-55 target that was better, gave it to the sport shop and they sold out within 4 days (previously had them sitting for almost 2 years...eley green box), didn't keep it. Obviously the Annie's Walthers and Unique all shoot better.

For grins this is the 308 at 100 yards, 3 shot group, only post it to show CZ target wasn't luck

Guys, one swallow doesn't make a summer. The target posted is of 4 consecutive groups shot in one sitting. Yes ,those are commendable groups you have there but they are not an average and are at least twice the size of the average of the 40X groups. That is why I said an average of 4/ 5 shot groups. If you see this as splitting hairs ,reread some of the OP's requests.

A repeating rifle that will shoot groups in the .1s at 50yd for an average is near unobtainium.
