270 WSM brass into 300 WSM

Hello all, I am new to reloading and wondering if I could get some quick feedback from a reloader familiar with the shortmags. I may be able to acquire some 270WSM nickle brass for my 300WSM. Wondering if I could neck size the brass and use it in my 300WSM and if it is safe to do so? Thanks for your help!!
 
The cases are identical other than the diameter of the neck. Necking the 270 case up to 30 caliber is not a big deal just make sure to use good lubrication inside the case neck.
 
Nickle brass will be harder to neck up than regular brass. If you want to use winchester nickle brass buy some load rounds fire them off and now you have nickle brass fireformed to your chamber.
 
I agree with tikka17 nickel brass is harder to work with. I would try and find some regular brass and try first. You will need lots of lube on the cases as well.
 
What type of dies are you using?

I've used the Hornady dies to neck up from 30 to 35 in one pass without any issues.

The expander ball is eliptical with the Hornady dies and seems to work better for me than the RCBS dies.

Like 'Boo said - it's not a big deal and remember to use lots of lube. I use RCBS dies and it has worked fine.
