Charger Reclasification

Just curious if you install a rifle stock could you get a charger reclassified as a non restricted rifle instead of a handgun?

Nope. If it was ever registered as a handgun, it will always remain restricted, even if it were to meet all other requirements for non restricted, according to the RCMP.

since its classified as a pistol does that mean if you wanted, you can cut the barrel down as short as 4.14 inches with a hacksaw in your garage and use a 50 rd drum mag from a 10/22?

Meh. I'm pretty sure we could screw and glue enough 2x6 chunks onto the stock to keep it up over the minimum required OAL.

Until the day that the magazine manufacturer labels and advertises the magazine as being intended for the 10/22 rifle and the Carger pistol. Then those 50 shot drums would likely have to be blocked to 5 rounds.....

Rimfre pistols are still capped at 10 rounds though. Rimfire rifles have no cap. It still makes no logical sense to me.... then again who said that laws are based on logic?

here's my charger. i took it to bits of pieces in delta and they shortend, threaded the barrel and installed a birdcage brake.

Looks good. Reminds me of my dad's Tec-22 that was confiscated back in '92.
