I'm fairly new to reloading but I've already determined a favorite load for my 300 Win Mag, I load two differant calibers, 300 Win Mag and 243 Win and my favorite load for the 300 Win Mag is

300 Win Mag- 165 gr Hornady A-Max bullet with 75 gr Hogdon H4831 powder
and 168 gr Hornady Match bullet with 74.8 gr Hogdon H4831

I've have also had some good results for the 243 Win with,
243 Win - 87gr Hornady Varmint bullet with 37.1 gr IMR 4064 powder but so far this is the only one I've tried for this caliber (going to be trying some 105 gr Hornady A-Max, 105 gr Nosler Custom Compition and 105 gr Sierra 105 gr match for this caliber)

I wonder what other reloaders favorite loads are for any caliber.

Like the title says this is partly for fun and partly for education, so if you feel like writing down your favorite loads go ahead, it may give some of us that are new to the hobby some ideas that we otherwise wouldn't think of trying.

Don't yell at me if this has already been done, I did a search and couldn't find another thread about this
 
Heres a couple just based on a caliber you mentioned:

243 with 87 grain vmax and 42.5 grains of H4350.

243 with 105 grain Amax and 32 grains of varget. Shoots great in summer and destabilizes in winters negative temperatures in my 9 1/8th twist barrel.

What twist do you have in your 243?
 
74 gr of Reloder 25 under both 180gr speer spitzers and 220gr Hornady RN. The 180's are well under max, but accurate, and the 220's are a mid range load. Didn't see a whole lot of point in pushing the envelope, recoil was still pretty brisk, and the paper was just as dead. Still haven't shot a rifle at a living creature yet, nothing against it, just no creatures have presented themselves when I've had the opportunity.
 
My .243 likes Speer 105 grain SP's and 90 grain FMJ's with IMR4350. My rifle(Cooey M71 with a glass bedded Win M70A stock) isn't up to great accuracy, but it's consistently minute of deer.

I really didn't start this thread just for myself I was hoping that folks would write down their good experiences with any caliber and powder bullet combos and even the make of gun used for all of us reloader's to have a look at and maybe even consider trying,

I like most reloader's have my manuals and have read and continue to read them every time I reload but there's nothing like the experience of the experienced to point others in the right starting direction. Anyway Thanks to you guys who did take the time to add a little input.

I think what might turn people off from this kind of thread is they think someone is just looking for easy information without looking it up for themselves but this isn't the case here, it was just for fun. Thanks again guys, Pat
 
my favorite load for my cheap gun is a

rem mod 770 chambered in 30-06,
new r-p brass, cci LRBR primer, 52.5gr H4350, OAL 2.984", 180 gr nosler partition.


it is able to do 10 shots in one ragged hole at 100 yrds, when i do my part.

it took out 2 deer this year at 325 and 350 yards both through the neck. and a moose out at 580 yards.(yes the spots were measured by gps)

will post my pet load for my .223 tommorow.
 
I have a Remington 700 CDL in 300 Win Mag. It dotes on the 180 Accubond and 76 grains of Norma MRP, or the 200 Accubond and 79 grains of H1000.
Not only are these accurate loads, but they are potent as well.

Eagleye, you like the H1000, I've been thinking of trying it even though I'm getting great results with H4831, I find H4831 gives me very good results as far as accuracy but it seems to burn a bit dirty, how's the H1000 for leaving a mess in the barrel
 
69.5grns IMR 4350, Fed case and 215gm primer, 180 Accubond, 1/2 a grain or a grain below max, so work up, but my T3 tactical loves it, .642" edge to edge with 3 shots @ 100yds. That's out of a rifle I have shoot less than 20 times total.

It isn't much different with 72 grns of RL22, Fed case, 215gm primer and a 200 grn Accubond. Again work up this is near max. I thnk I had to back down a half a grain or a grain due to a slight bulge near the belt and a bit of primer flattening on the edges.

H1000 is pretty clean burning as long as you don't load it too "light". Most of the "slow" burners tend to be that way. Best clean burn is found near max working pressures. Eagleye.

I worked up a load for a 300WinMag.

180gr NosPart, 81gr H1000, Remington once fired brass, Federal 210 primers.

rifle was a POS cobbled together ParkerHale, with a 22" very thin barrel. Light, easy to carry, Kicked like a mule.

walked a load up to inside 1" at 100, and was told that was good enough. could have brought it down more with tweeking either side of the load, but the guy I was giving the rifle to said 1" was good enough.

recently I have read that that is actually a fairly common loading.

I liked it.
 
New favorite load for my Rem 700 7mm Rem Mag is 68.5 gr of RL 25 and a 160gr Accubond for 3020 fps. Was using RL 22 for a couple years, but it topped out at 2820 fps. Both loads will put 3 under and inch at 200 yards if I lay off the coffee.

Hoping to work up a "favorite" load today with my 6.5-06, 130 Bergers and the same powders.
