I was practicing this today; I did about 5:1 dry fire:live fire. Still, I feel clunky.

I have been looking on the interpipes for an instructional video on the proper technique. Can anyone share a link?

Thanks!

Stick your ass out, keep your back straight, bend your knees, walk like a duck.

Just go to youtube and google magpul or whatever - fairly common.

Don't shuffle, walk

Keep your feet under you, big loping strides will cause you to bob or bounce making it hard to track the sights.

Bend everything, just like using your whole body to absorb recoil you want your whole body to absorb the shock of your feet hitting the ground so that it doesn't transmit to your sight picture.

Walk heel to toe when moving forward, toe to heel when walking backward.

Get low and aggressive, lean more, crouch more, get your center of gravity lower.

Lastly, watch your sights, they will let you know when it's not right.

Lock your knees straight. Turn your toes inward. Bend forward at the waist. Elbows out. Move your head side to side....

WAIT......WAIT.......disregard.

Thats something else.

There sure is a lot of 'ass' talk here'bouts...

I had a look at the magpul videos. They were equal parts entertainment and education. I have been practicing moving while shooting, using the technique from their video. I'm pretty confident doing that now.

I'm just worried my ass won't be out far enough to meet the demands of my peers.

The key is to also glide your feet insstead of high stepping it. The less you bounce your feet, with smooth transitions from left to right, the more stable your walk. Heel , side toe, typically.
