last month ordered a tc venture 22-50 predater from cabellas it was back ordered finaly came last week , 2days later my dad and i went out to the range when i went to load it the bolt would not close it is like they didn't bore the chamber out enough the rifle is unfireable so i called cabellas and they will not refund only credit toward another fire arm except they are not going to have anymore tc venture predaters and i told them thats what i wanted and they basicaly said heres the # for thompson center see what they will do for you or put your 823.00 dollars toward another gun and thats final so i guess ill call tc monday and see what hapens just wanted to let you guys know to becarefull sometimes the excitment of a new gun can be dissapointing and ill pay full price for a referbished gun and im done with cabellas, do guys think its fair that i have to settle for credit instead of a refund when they sell me a unusable firearm that cannot be exchanged and they still have the privalidge of keeping my working class money let me know your oppinions maybe im crazy thanx trevor.

if it makes you feel any better Im still waiting since january for a rifle that was supposed to arrive in a month or two, from an alberta vendor. His customer service is a little better than that though.

It sounds like half the problem is cabelas not wanting to give your money back, and the other half of the problem is the manufacturer, cabelas maybe shouldnt be blamed for a crappy built firearm, and TC shouldnt be blamed for a lack of cash refund.

Time to look for something better through a local vendor. There's lots of good looking rifles out there at the moment.

So what is the problem ?

I purchased a Savage from LeBarons it had an issue, I didn't go back to LeBarons, I sent it to Savage, they fixed the problem

Same thing with a Beretta shotgun, it didn't go to the place I bought it, it went to Stoeger, they took care of it

Not everything a store sells makes it their responsibility to fix or replace, sometimes it is the manufacturer who remedies the problem

I think Cabellas was fair to you, they at least offered to give you something not their fault it's something you don't want

No Trevor, on face value, of course its not right. A store should stand by the product it sells. Or perhaps I am old fashioned and need to get jiggy with it.

So let's try to figure out what's wrong with the gun. Did you mount scope on it? Is the base screw to long and stopping the bolt? Are you using factory loads? Handloads with too long OAL? Does it function properly on an empty chamber?

I don't fault the store. They are telling you they will have nothing more to do with TC, but will allow full refund, toward the purchase of any other firearm. That's a pretty good store polcy and in my opinion, doesn't warrant what you have said about them in your title.

Have you noticed other businesses go under after commentaries and discussion on an online forum? The Internet allows info to change hands really fast now.
Remember a place called Russels Sporting Goods in Calgary? That place went to hell long before UFA bought them out, and potential customers were scared away from the online discussions. And, the Edmonton North WSS seems to be doing less business at their gun counter the last couple years, coincidentally since forum members here and on AO compared notes on the miserable attitudes of particular employees and the lack of customer service.

Cabelas should stand behind any product they sell. Failing their customers does not bode well for their future in Canada. I am curious about seeing the new store opening in Edmonton, but I would rather direct my money and purchases to shops like P&D and MilArm simply because of the increasing reports of poor customer service from the bigger chain stores.

Does the bolt close without a cartridge in it?
If it doesn't, it's likely a screw protruding either a scope screw or a guard screw .
Myself, I would try and fix it myself before i sent it back.....

They ordered a firearm for you... they did not have it in stock... apparently there may be something wrong with the firearm.. that has not been determined yet... they offered to take it back and credit you full value... that is completely fair... they could have left you out in the cold...

Warranty is between you and a warranty depot... not between you and the retail store.

That's the cold hard facts of business. I don't blame the store at all.

Get a hold of Lyle Linkitas he is TC's service rep in Canada and he will make it right for you whatever it takes. And he's good people. If you need his contact info PM me.

About 2 or 3 years ago I had an issue with a Savage 22lr bought form Cabelas. I returned the rifle for repairs to Cabelas and they returned it fixed. It took a while though.
I still wonder whether sending the rifle to Savage's authorized repair center would have taken less time.
I know the return policy changed since then and I still think the store should stand by the products it sells but if it takes too long...

its the manufacturer of the rifle not the store that sells it thay went out of there way and ordered you the rifle and are willing to give the money back cabelas is a good store ive bought many things from them and there all way's more then helpful.

now you could have bought it at a local gunshop if thay dont have it in most likely thay can get it that way you know your getting a good rifle

Reading your posts are painful. Makes me want to gouge out my eyes with a coffee spoon. Your spelling is improving somehow.

Well - Years ago, retailers went back-to-back with the manufacturer for warranty claims. Not so any more, the big box low cost phenomenon has caused retailers to avoid any warranty representation. Of course there is still the odd exception.
Perhaps the OP should have established the terms and condition of the purchase before he bought the rifle, rather than doing an internet whine after the fact.
