Well this hunt started 2 years ago! In 2009 my oldest daughter, Ashley shot her first Deer, right after her mom reminded her that she only had one more year to hunt on her dads tags! "will after that I'll do my CORE " she says! Mom replies, "I'll do the core with you then!".........Fast forward to this past friday!......Mom and ashley get their hunter #'s!!......Now being that Ashley is 14.....she had..."prior engagements" for this evening!!:confused:......But mom was game after her shift at Homehardwear!!.....Now......not being one for "RUSHING".... I did not have the truck and all nessary gear ready at 2:00pm!.......a full 2 hrs before mom got home!!:D......Anywho!....we head out, just as we get to a said FSR....I go to call "pick up 0 up said FSR"......I don"t get it out before I say......"Look...Bear!!" We puta stalk... but the wind is not our friend!.......Off we go! 20min later I say to the wife..."just around the corner is a landing that we saw a nice Bear on a few days ago at work"......there he is!....but again, the wind is not our friend!:mad:.....At this point it's go home time!...try agian tomorrow!.......we get half way down the FSR, and I see black in the ditch!.....

ME: "Theres a Bear hun!"....."just a little guy!"
WIFE: "Is he little?"
ME: "Yep,.....Let him walk around a bit and see!"
After a couple mins...
ME: "He's NOT a huge Bear....But a good first Bear!"
All I hear is the opening of the truck door!!......I'll let the video tell the rest!!

Great job! A family outing that will be talked about for years! I think the little one that tagged along will be out in a few years too!

The wife was pretty stoked!!.....She's already eager to go for Deer season!!!:redface::p......Oh...just incase......been a few coments about me sending the wife and kid in on a downed Bear on some other hunting sites!.......I did go in first and make sure it was down for the count, and then headed in with the family!!

I kind of thought you knew the bear was down for the count as everyone was pretty calm about the whole ordeal. Love the comments from your daughter about the meat being in there. Good to see you getting the whole family involved and too bad your 14 year old was busy. I bet when she found out about her mom getting a bear she wished she came along.

Thanks!!....Yep....she was wishing she had tagged along!!:p......Still got lots of time.......season is open till June 30th!!:D:rockOn:

Seriously? I had pretty much figured that out ahead of time.
However, the whole "trust me honey and you go first, I have to tape it" would be a good go as well...lol!! Outstanding job, Trina!!
 
I'm glad Trina got her bear, but that's not how I'd have done it. After the shot, the condition of that bear was unknown, yet you allow her to walk up on it with your little girl!!??? She could of got whupped, in fact all 3 of you could have got whupped! Big game animals in general and bears in particular ain't dead until they're proven dead. There's no way I'd have gone into heavy cover after a bear I'd just shot with my rifle slung. I think you guys are very lucky that you had an angel on your shoulders. It could have ended very badly.:(
