I am not sure what you are talking about, but please do say more.

there's a big problem down south with hog's these hog's where brought here from spain close 300 years ago for food well these hog's have been a problem ever since the numbers keep climbing and thay destroy farm feilds there are no rules for the most part shoot them and kill them there a fair number of them in AB but numbers in the southern US are real high so why not join in and help before thay spread more :yingyang:

Talking with a Texan about this, discussing the necessary (pre-hunt) preparations, I allowed that my real ambition was to use a pistol. He went silent, appearing very sober, then he laughed, and said:
"You can shoot him the first time. We'll shoot him the rest of the times."

In Canada we talk about wishing we could shoot hogs, down south the talk about what they have shot them with. Save $$, google Texas hog hunting, and for $900 go to Texas for a week stay at some backwoods ranch with some of the nicest Yanks (they encouraged me to call them that) you will every meet and shoot/hunt/track all the hogs one week allows... Some of the best non-### times I have ever had !

its just like what you call a canadian redneck...........................canuck :p

Where in Alberta can I shoot them? Are they tasty?

look at the hog population map (google it) theres a good number of them in AB and where deamed shootable in 2008 :)

im guessing thay taste like pork just cook tem real good to be on the safe side

man i miss the pig's now used to have a pig roast twice a year of corse i dont like having to clip the tails or teeth or cleaning the barn sure fun trying to catch one when it gets out :)

hmm, I can't find a map, but I did find that their is a bounty on them in Alberta, no mention of how much the bounty is.

as much as i don't want them here.... i kinda do at the same time

trust me you dont there doing alot of damage to crops and with canada being mostly framing country thats not good i say kill as many as you can and stop them spreading any more then what thay are

i know buckshot is a good round for these buggers that way if your shooting at them when there feeding you may hit more them one :D

The wild boar problem has definitely been overstated in Alberta. I live in the centre of one of the "problem" areas. We got a letter from the county stating that there was a $50 bounty on them here and that we should shoot them on sight. To date, I don't know if the county has actually paid any bounties out, I haven't seen a pig yet and the only ones that I have heard of being killed were ones that escaped from a farmers land on a Monday and were all shot by the Tuesday. I think the bounties and regs have simply been put in place to allow us to take care of escapees before they get the chance to breed and establish a wild population.

So how would you know "buckshot is a good round for these buggers?" Sounds like a great way to merely blind or wound them.
Chances are if you use these on a big alpha male wild boar, you'll just piss him off and you'll give him a perm moments before he kills you.

Don't you know that buckshot creates a "cone of death" that absolutely destroys everything in it's path out to a range of at least 200 meters? The lead balls do in fact multiply as they get farther away from the gun so that if you merely shoot into the middle of a herd outside of 50 yards you stand a good chance of getting them all.

look at vids most are running by the time you shoot one so buckshot would be my choice 9-12 .33 cal lead balls at 1300fps

a 4ga(1" bore) blunderbuss loaded with 8 .500 round balls would stop them fast too :D

all it takes to stop a pig is a .22lr that is shooting 1 hole groups and feeder at 25 yards if you know where to shoot on the pig's skull it will drop it on the spot

Buddy in Texas uses an AR 15 or AR 10 to shoot them, mostly to get several shots off fast, and even at running targets. If you look at vids you will see these pigs run away with holes pouring blood out. He said only use shotgun if you are shooting slugs, anything else isn't effective enough unless you are too close for safety. His roommate has scars on his leg reminding him that just because a 00 buck at 20 feet blows most of its head away that it does not mean the hog will not charge with it's one good tusk.
I would NOT recommend a .22, there skull is like a bears.

I told him I wanted to take my .204 down to shoot some, he laughed and said he will keep his AR 10 on it just in case. Despite me saying I'll just shoot it in the head. He said maybe 1 in 10 he can bang flop. Most run even with a perfect lung or heart shot. And head shots are inconsistent due to the thick skull and small brain.

Thank you for the chuckle! :)

More ignorance. Tell me you have a 4 bore that you've practiced with, or is this merely a fantasy in your Call of Duty mind.
Now don't touch a shotgun ever, & back to the XBox with you.
