My rem 5r has the x mark Pro trigger with the little screw on the trigger itself. Anyways I had a gunsmith lower it some, but I was at the range today and want it lower. Do I just turn the screw on the trigger counter clockwise to make for a lighter trigger? And what is the scew comes all the way out? Is this a problem? Or do I just screw it back in?

from what i read, when you tighten the screw it goes to its firmest setting, about 3.5 pounds. each turn you back it out loosens it about 1 pound and itll only go to 1.5 pounds. after that youre just turning it and getting no results. that was my understanding from the website when i adjusted mine.

i dont know if the 5r are set any lighter then the normall rem triggers but that screw doesnt do #### all except make remington have an "adjustable trigger" take the trigger to a gunsmith who know how to adjust remington triggers properly and get them to take it to 2.5. anything under your going to need an aftermarket trigger.. i cranked that screw up and down and i got the thing down to 5 lbs but then it would break at 6 every once in a while piece of ####

Ya I did take it to a gun smith but I want it lower. I wonder if I mess around with the screw on the trigger it will screw up what he did inside.

Remove the screw... that will be as light as you can adjust it without working on the rest of the trigger. Test it empty a few times to make sure your 'gunsmith' didn't screw up the trigger.

The spring is larger than the screw hole so it stays there... sort of not engaged when the screw is backed off.

what does it adjust down to? i shot a rifle with a 4 ounce trigger yesterday and it was fantastic. made mine feel like i was dragging a ships anchor up a muddy hill

700 triggers can be worked crisp and as low as a pound in some situations... 1.5 pounds isn't that difficult. It isn't an adjustment, it requires complete dis-assembly and 'working' by an experienced person. It isn't expensive either.

inexpensive and me go hand in hand. just a matter of finding an experienced person. lol. the trigger on dg photographys t wolf was the one i was talking about, and i played with a 308 savage aswell and it had the same light trigger pull.

####ty, what was wrong with them? i dont wanna break the bank on a better trigger because i wanna buy a better scope soon, but id like something with a softer pull just because i was noticing a bit of a twitch on my part while pulling the trigger at times. but i havent felt that with the other two guns ive shot with very light pull triggers.

what do you suggest that works well and is reasonably priced?

Shilen trigger from brownells is about 85$

pack up your rifle and send it to guntech haha problem solved :p

He did the trigger on my 5r, the differance is night and day! now if i pick up my friends 5r and try to shoot it, it feels like the safty is on haha, for the price of the trigger job to how it feels, it probably beats most after market triggers in the cost to trigger feel ratio.

needless to say once they arrive my other rifles will have an appointment with Mr. Tech

Whats a better trigger timney or jewel? I probably won't get one anytime soon but good to know. And what range trigger like one that goes into oz? I saw on timney site some are 5-1.5 pounds and the tactical is like 4oz-1 pound

the pamphlet that came with the 700 with the xmark trigger says that it is a 5lb trigger with the ability to adjust it 2lbs down to a 3lb trigger so best to replace it with the timney trigger and call it a day...
