At this point the Ontario CFO is going to take 8 weeks minimum to process your test results. If you call them before 8 weeks they won't even bother to look up your name and see what is happening, they will simply tell you to wait at least 8 weeks then call back.
I then ask them if they could check the status of my application (seeing as I was already on the phone with them). They told me that it's still under review and to call back 45 days. I then told them I spoke to the CFO a couple weeks back and they told me to check back in three weeks. I was then told not to check back in three weeks and that the 45 day period begins when the CFO recieves my application and to call back sometime after mid June. I then asked again about the 45 day period mentioning that their web site says the 45 period is from Miramichi receiving my application and includes the 28 day waiting period. I was told that's not how it works and the 45 days is from when the CFO receives the application and was again told not to call back till after mid June.
Does this sound right?
I'm not able to get Miramichi to even confirm that they have received my application as suggested in the first post. It's been over 2 weeks since it was delivered. Just a heads up.
My application was delivered to Miramichi and signed for on May 16th. Like yourself I also tried calling, but they would not confirm receipt of my application. I check their web site on a daily basis but it's not even listed.
What's the average time from receiving the application until it is posted on their web site?
Apr 21: Application mailed
Apr 29: Application received in Miramichi
May 18: Application online (after multiple calls to CFP)
May 26: 28 day waiting period over
Jun 1: PAL APPROVED!
Mailed: who knows! Stupid (likely) postal strike. At least I can get a digi-copy and order some rifles!
34 days, would have taken alot longer without the tips here, thanks Calalta!
Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.
was just about to send mine in and now the strike is coming tomorrow...
If you're anxious to get going, consider sending it via Fedex or some other courier. It shouldn't cost more, or much more, than registered lettermail with Canada Post.
xpresspost was like $34 from Toronto.. kinda pricey. took 2 days to get there
