I'm looking for some info here. Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, but a search turned up nothing.

A friend of mine who is looking to purchase an M&P15-22 informs me that a dealer told him 25 round mags are once again available in light of the discontinuation of the M&P15-22 pistol. This apparently resulted in a reversal of the prohibition order. According to him, said dealer is now selling the rifles with 25 rounders. A quick check of a couple of dealers websites shows the rifles being sold with 25 round mags...no indication of them being of the neutered variety. I ask because a) I have not been able to find confirmation of this online, and b) If true, I want a couple of 25 rounders myself!

If nobody knows, I'll just contact the dealer in question and ask...but they are closed for now and I thought I would see if anybody knew about this, or if it's just wishful thinking.

I would not think that is the case. I assume that once the rcmp have a frt for the pistol and that they are available here in canada, that magazine would always be for the available pistol.. I know I saw one this weekend so they do exist.

I hope you are right as I thought the magazines loaded easy enough for my 8 and 10 year old to load. But now we are forced to use the ultra reliable black dog drum. Those evil 25 rounders hmm.. Now I have to use 50 rounders.

This makes me curious also since I was at P&D in Edmonton the day after they got their letter saying the 25 round mags were prohibited and they pulled them off their walls. I was in there again on Saturday and I saw that the magazines were back and they looked like they were the normal 25 round ones. Since I was in a rush I didn't have a chance to ask anyone there what the deal was.

Any dealers care to provide some clarification? I just bought a M&P 15-22 and was about to order some 10 rd mags, if this is true i would go with the 25 rounders.

dang it..! i got rid of my 25 rounders, and got 10 rounders. i'll get the black dog drum in any case. reloading after 10 (each time) isn't the greatest...

me too, they're awful things to load :(

THEY'RE BAAAAAACK!

It's official. The 25 rounders are back in the good books. My friend purchased an M&P15-22 today and it came with a 25 round mag ( I was standing right there and witnessed the event in all it's anti C-68 glory). They are expecting a supply of unadulterated 25 rounders soon.

I hope this is for real and not some dealer making a mistake

Has anyone got a official letter from the CFC stating the 25 is now OK? Without that I wouldn't consider taking a chance.

If it is true one better hope that the LEO's have been brought up to date or for sure someone is going to have a legal battle on their hands.

We all know how often gun laws are "made up" at the side of the road.

Elwood Epps is a very reputable shop so possibly he has a letter he would allow to be posted on this site??

An apropos post. My friend was stopped at a RIDE on his way home. The OPP inquired about the M&P Rifle box on the back seat. He replied that it was empty, said rifle was in the case and he had all of the necessary paperwork. The officer let him proceed after that.
