yes or no..Glock or Colt 1911- which has the better service life???

My experience running them in commercial ranges was that Kimber 1911s in 45ACP outlasted Glocks by a wide margin. This is not to say that they were more reliable, only that the frames and slides lasted much longer. I cannot really speak to other brands or 1911s in general as the numbers of other makes was quite small.

Glock, but love the 1911.
1911 Would have a longer service life than a glock,in my opinion-I have a 1911 armorers kit as well as ton's of specialized 1911 tool's,the better handfit examples, 1911's will equal the best reliability of any other semi-auto. I would say the better examples of the 1911 would on average last longer than your average glock (As far as "useable service life and accuracy")

Service life is not what you should be basing your decision on if it's a toss up between the two.
I've found 1911s jam easier if you limp wrist (all guns do, but 1911's are more noticable, I've found). Also, if you don't have big hands, a full-size government 1911 might not be for you.
