Well my post lady came knockin' at the door today and dropped off my new McMillan stock for the Ruger Hawkeye today. Must say they did a great job. I figured it would be a little more black though. Anyways here it is....off to the range this weekend.:D

Nice stock, did you get it custom blended or just pick an off the shelf one? What is it white, grey and black?

Hey USP I ordered this stock back in February. The colour is supposed to be 80% black 10% gray and 10% white, but it looks to have a lot more gray than black in it:confused:.Still it looks pretty good I think, we'll see how my other one turns out for my Ruger Alaskan(70% black 20% dark gray, 10 % light gray). It should be here in August. I also had to pay duty on this stock as well when it arrived. Oh well...

I'll bet the mc swirly will be really nice on the Alaskan. If I'd have done that I might still have one. The only way to beat a McMillan is a really, really nice piece of wood.

Hey Digger, that looks good. Which model stock is that and what does it make the whole package weight? I keep thinking of doing that to mine....
Pitched

Hey Pitched, according to my scales the whole package weighs about 7 3/4 - 8lbs total. That's with the old school spring loaded fish scale. It's the same weight as the bare bones Ruger Alaskan. The stock is a Mark II Classic.

It's hard to go wrong with a stainless Ruger .35 Whelen in a McMillan!;)

Yeah Steve the 35 Whelen (I've got 2 and 3rd is coming:D)is a fantastic caliber and the Ruger is a great gun. Looking forward to when my TTSX's show up for the 35 and 375 to get out to the range.

Digger hows the weight on it? Can I ask what you paid for it? Its a nice stock. McMillan direct right?

The complete gun is 7 3/4 - 8lbs, the stock was ordered through JW precision (awesome guy) and I ended paying duty($52) which brought the total cost to about $500. 3.5 month wait time.

Wow! That's a nice looking rifle. I just picked up a CDL and I have a BDL in this calibre. The .35 Whelen is awesome!

Is the .35 Whelen strong enough for moose?

Darryl

Of course it is you should know that, coming from a guy that flattened a moose with a 6.5x55 and a A frame.:D But in all seriousness my Whelen loaded with 225 TSX or 200gr TTSX is my secondary moose gun. The 375 Ruger Alaskan loaded with 250gr TTSX is the main hitter. Rings just arrived for the Alaskan so I can mount up the Leupold VX-R 3-9 CDS.:D
