I have a chance to pick up a Marlin 1893 rifle marked 32-HPS from an estate, Serial#3047** indicated 1904 as make date. The gun has virtually no blue/color (silver to patina)with trace color around some screws, 28" octagonal barrel with full tube mag, Barrel marked "Special Smokeless Steel", Crescent Butt, wood is very good with light useage marks but little of the original finish remains (I do not know if these were a dull oil finish or shiny? This one has no shine). The barrel exhibits strong rifling and is dark but I think it will byrsh up fine, The only issue is that the front sight may not be original. Otherwise the gun is sound with a smooth action. I do not have pictures.
So can anyone suggest a fair value based on the above?
Cheers/thanks!

If it really has a 28 inch barrel it would be a fairly rare rifle as 26 inch was the standard length in rifle models. Have it checked out by a few Marlin guys before you sell it.

28" barrels are not all that rare in Marlins.
I have seen a few.
That old girl looks in decent shape but not a real collector find.
I would think $4-500 would be a realistic value.
