Shorten PAL Approval Times

May 16: Application received
June 2: Posted on the RCMP web site

Quote: "Note: An accurately completed firearms licence application normally takes about 45 days to process. Incomplete and inaccurate information can add additional processing time."

Yesterday when my application status was visible on on their web site I noticed the following message - 45 days to process. I thought it was 28 days?

28 days is the mandatory waiting period... 45 is the "typical" processing time.

Update and time line for people in ontario
March 5th-wrote cfsc
april26th-received cfsc papers and expresspost mailed in to RcMp with app (Should of mailed in app early)
april 29th-recieved by rcmp
May 12th-showed up online as received
May 24- I relised i made a mistake on app and called in to fix and not slow down
June 4th-Online shows as license issued (no refs called)

All in all taking the slow route and not sending the app in early like i should have it was just shy of 3 months. Just over a month if i didn't have to wait on cfsc papers. Likely 1-2 weeks to get here now barring the postal strike.(fingers crossed) I don't think when i bought my house that it felt this long and drawn out! Or me being this anxious! LOL Another shooter in the ranks boys and girls!

You're lucky joelauto. I also live in Regina, SK and my application was posted on April 29th, completed the interviews on May 20th and is still "in progress" as of June 5th. I guess I'll have to call for another update tomorrow morning.

I just got off the phone with the RCMP.

They called me because on my attached letter, I stated that I would mail my stamped test results as soon as I received them from the Ontario CFO.

She called to tell me due to the postal strike I should fax (1-800-411-0622) in the test results.

Did you fax in the results?

Thanks for the heads up.

I just completed and passed the CFSC and CRFSC this past weekend.

The instructor(s) indicated that test results would be couriered to the Ontario CFO since I posed the question of the current postal strike.

I plan to courier my application this week and follow up with the course validations when I receive them as per the advice on this thread.

No not yet - I am still waiting for the stamped test results.

The strike is a rotating one... no need to courier the app... but sending it via either reg'd mail or express post is always good.. since it can be tracked.

done 2 interviews getting my brother to call in as we speak..although i m kinda scared, one of the questions they asked I had to say yes to
basically police were involved but no charges were laid against me, I didnt do anything wrong it was the other party....am I ok to go?

At what stage of the application process do they charge the fee? Do they do this during the initial processing or after references have been called and you have been verified?

I hope so how long is it usually if oyu answer yes to any of there questions for a restricted licence should I start calling end week...I need the restricted for a job :)
