Ive broken the handle off them 3 times now. pretty frustrating.
just using normal pressure. primer pockets reamed and clean.
If anyone is looking at them I recommend you dont buy it. They work fine, just the handle is weak.

I wore one out, and the second one isn't in bad shape after priming thousands of rounds. If you lube them properly, I never had a problem with them. However, I have replace my Autoprime with the RCBS Universal Priming tool, as it provides better feel,is smoother, and it doesn't require individual shellholders.
I also use the ram prime. While slow, it provides a great "feel" when seating primers and is pretty much fool proof, which is great for me.

I was ready to chuck mine (along with the Lee specific shell holders) and fired off an e-mail. Lee sent me a new one - NQA. You definitely have to clean the primer pockets. But it is built no where near as good as my RCBS.
I also use the ram prime. While slow, it provides a great "feel" when seating primers and is pretty much fool proof, which is great for me.
If you stick it on the Lee hand press you end up with a great single shot hand primer to replace the Lee auto prime.

you also have to get a feel for when its time to stop squeezing.
I broke my first one soon after i got it.(over squeezing)
I have 2 now, one for large and one for small.
Keep them greased at the contact points and they will load alot of rounds.
BTW the broken part was under $3. didn't ask for a free replacement.

I have loaded 25-30 thousand rounds with mine with no problem ! Perhaps "we" were going at the priming a little too vigorously ! IE: LP into a small primer pocket ?
I have two of the Lee Auto-Prime XRs that haven't given me any issues. Thousands of rounds have gone through one of them. Not sure why anyone would buy the old round one brand new anyway. The XR is square and fits the primer boxes fine so you can just dump the primers comfortable unlike the old round one. The XR can also be used with Federal primers.
The new Auto-Prime XR eliminated the primer brand restriction so any brand is now usable.

Good idea to put some lube on the old style ones, you will see the wear spots on the pivots. Looked at the RCBS today, didn't need it, so, didn't buy it. But,
it is a nice unit with that universal shell holder. Unfortunately, it won't accept anything bigger than 45-70 brass. I will take a pc of my 450/400 brass with me tomorrow and check the new hornady unit, think it uses the existing Hornady/RCBS shellholders.
