Hi Everyone

I'm looking for reload-able brass 7.62x54R cases, preferably PVRI brand. Anyone know of someone who sells them? I usually buy from Mystic but he's still back ordered.

Thanks,

Barry

Bell is a major Canadian firearms and ammo importer. They recently "diversified" into the quack medicine business   (see what it takes to run a successful gun business in Canada :HR:)

Really...I have bought Bell Labs rounds for quite some time while in NS from a local dealer who seemed to be the only one who could get x54mm rounds.

There is, however, NOTHING on that site that resembles cartridges or cases. Perhaps it is a mistake.

And what do you define as recently? I was buying Bell shark cartilage and pain liniments over 10 years ago, and it did not seem like a new thing to the people in the store. Also, their site says that they have been helping people since 1996. So, I guess that 15 yrs is recent...? I think there is another site somewhere for Bell ammo out of Vegas, maybe?

Look at the Savage Arms website under "Distributers" and you will find the following:

Bell Distributors Ltd. - Bell Lifestyle Products Inc.
3164 Pepper Miill Court
Mississauga
Ontario
L5L 4X4
P:1 905 820 7000
F:1 905 820 8000

1996? I guess it is the past half dozen years or so they are changing their focus more to the quack medicine business.

BTW, it's Prvi, not Pvri... Prvi Partizan in Uzice (Now Prvi Partizan AD), or more simply PPU.
I doubt Bell would sell anything direct. You may also find some Norma floating around.

Which takes you to the same site as before. TOTALLY devoid of firearms or shooting products. And if they have been helping people with medical problems since 1996, then that is 15 years not the past half dozen... No
matter, I have sent off an email that will dispel all of this confusion.

x2 for buying them loaded, smashing off trying to hit a gong thats way to far and then loading them your own after that.

And... here's your answer...

My email:

Good day,
Your company is listed under Savage Arms as a distributor for their firearms. I have also, in the past, purchased boxes of cartridges from a local supplier with your name on the box. However, when logging onto your site, I could find no references to firearms or cartridges.
I was wondering if your company still supplied brass cases for 7.62x54mmR cartridges? Also, what are the requirements, if any, to order from you?
Thank you in advance for your time in this matter and I look forward to your answers.

Sincerely,

Hi Ted,

We are looking at getting into brass cases for 2012, however presently we are not carrying this product. Our company has 2 divisions. The sporting division division does not yet have a website.

This is a great thread for some of our site sponsors to pay attention to as many of us now own rifles chambered in this cartridge and want to protect them from the corrosive surplus that we sometimes are forced to shoot. I would love to find a regular supply of good, reloadable brass for this calibre. Good on you for starting this thread.

I was ordering some of other brass from Trade-ex and I asked about 7.62x54R and 8x56R brass.
Gentleman says, that he's trying to get above brass for last 10 months or so- no luck so far.

It would be logical for sellers like Marstar etc to sell fodder for rifles they sell.

Maybe it's not profitable enough? Who knows...

Wow thanks for all the replies. I love this site.

Where do you guys get loaded PRVI ammo? I am very happy to buy it loaded and shoot it and save cases.

And yes, sponsors, lets get some of this ammo rolling... :)

On a side note, I've been looking for awhile. I asked in Wholesale Sports (had to ask, even though I suspected the answer) and the guy explained that you "can't reload 7.62x54... hey, do you have an SKS or something?". :)

These rifles were designed to shoot corrosive rounds and the uneducated peasant soldiers were able to clean them properly in the worst of field conditions. I can't think of any reasons other than laziness that a Canadian should fail at this same task. Its agreed that commercial loads are cleaner, but they are not cheaper, in fact probably closer to 3 or 4 times the price.

Having that said, there are 3 or 4 places that I've picked up these rounds in Edmonton and I don't see availability as a problem. Both S&B and PRVI are very good and accurate loads, and the brass is good quality.

I hand load these for accuracy, custom bullet weight, and custom bullet diameters for old guns with worn barrels which many persons would have discarded the rifle as a wall hanger with no accuracy. I have 3 different rifles for this caliber, 600 pieces of brass, and a half dozen cases of surplus for sh*ts n giggles.

My biggest complain is lack of non-North American loading data.
