Tikka M65 deluxe in 308

I have a Mod.55 in 308, but I wasn't aware that the Mod.65 was made in 308 as well.
I do have a Mod.65 with a rounded forearm in 6.5X55 and it is quite different as it has a 20" fluted barrel with iron sights and factory QR rings.
Also the butt has no cheekpiece, perhaps its the Battue model....

Does anyone have one of these? They are a bit different from the normal deluxes. Besides having a blued bolt, the forend is rounded not square.

I have an M65 Deluxe in 30-06 with the rounded forearm and blued bolt. When I first researched the M65, all the documentation/pictures I'd found of the deluxe models showed them with the angular foreend and basketweave/skip checkering.

Since buying mine, all the ones I've subsequently seen have been with the rounded forearm and regular checkering. It was my impression that the the change is date-related with the angular foreend models being the early deluxes and the rounded being the later deluxes --- I'm guessing the actual change was some time in the mid-80s.

Either way, they're very nice rifles. Have you checked your rifling to see if it is the ratchet style? Here's a pic of my m65's rifling:

Is this Doug's rifle that you bought? If so, congratulations, it was a nice looking rifle and priced right.

WB:
It was my understanding that the M55 was the intermediate length (308 etc) and the M65/LSA65 were the long action/magnum (270/30-06/7mm RM etc)...
