Chinese clean up at Military/Police Sniper World Cup 2011

Of course the Chinese and only the Chinese cheats.

It's not like the French and Soviet would collaborate to cheat at an Olympic Skating event.
It's not like the American gets top marks to win in diving despite hitting the diving board once again at the Olympic.

If anything can be said it is the Chinese learn from the best; money buys victory. Just look at the referring at the Stanley cup; of course it's fair, Money talks.

Considering the thread, I regard your comment as off topic.

Blah, blah. How many of the comments are from shooters that have competed in world competition? Yah Canada is great shooters, wish it was a lot better! Lots of questionable deals around the world, if you are there and don't like it then talk to the match committee. Get over it or speak up.

That works great when the match committee and the host nation will stand up to and hold all shooters accountable.
It is hard to game/cheat a 2+10 TR match the same way practical shooting events can be.

I've been on 5 team Canada's.My good friend Gunnerlove has been on at least 3.
Belly shooting is one thing but military style competitions are easier to cheat at.
When you are in the Mecca of shooting, catch another team flagrantly cheating, they actually get caught by range staff
but get no more than a slap on the wrist and carry on to win the match and they receive their trophy at the awards ceremony to a dead silent audience
yet the match committee still do nothing, that makes you wonder why the #### you flew 8000 miles in the first place.

Not sure why everyone needs to make excuses. As with any competition, not everyone in the world was there. Of the folks that were there the Chinese teams proved to be consistently better. Why is there so much resistance to the fact that China produces world class athletes? They are a large country, they have a big population that has many talented people, and they have great training programs. Maybe the rest of the SWAT teams should start looking to China for some expertise instead of assuming this was a fluke?

Good point.

In communist countries athletes train for free. Sports (as well as arts training) is heavily subsidized by the state.
You don't have to pay through the nose just to join the range (or sign your kid to play sports for that matter). All you need is talent and commitment.
But, there's a catch - you are actually expected to exell - unlike here where everybody gets a ribbon, or else feelings are hurt.
Just sayin'...

Cheating goes on everywere. When I was a reservist attached to the 2CAR at their battle school I outshot the whole company in a close quarter target competion. The CSM sent a couple of the better shots through again to beat my score because a reservist couldn't be alowed to win.Granted most of the marksmen were with WO Drover setting up in Montreal for the Olympics but is still pissed me off.

This happened in 2009. Canadian forces Basic Military Officer Qualification Course. Friend of mine, had the best score while shooting the C7. At the end of the course, during graduation an award is presented to the best shooter in the class.

But because this one officer cadet's father was a Lieut Colonel, and he will be coming to the graduation ceremony. The award was presented to the guy with the LCol for father. Who himself didn't think this entire thing was right.

This of course has as much credibility as the email that suggests the chinese team cheated. But cheating happens everywhere. Don't let it be an excuse to incite racist comments.

To all that have commented, and in no particular order:

1.) I left names out of my post because many of the people who were effected by the scoring and judging in the tournement would like to participate again next year. I am undecided if I am amongst them. I can assure you that anyone who went public would not be invited back. Call it a lack of nerve on my part or whatever you want but that is the reality. In Europe there are very few venues where snipers, especially from former Eastern Block countries, can get together and compete. Aside from the tournement in Libava (Czech) I do not know of any aside from that in ungary that draw so many competitors.

2. I never alleged that the snipers from China lacked talent. Indeed, the top performers shot very well. In hindsight it was as much a slight to them as it was to the other top shooters that they were, IN MY OPINION, given an unfair advantage by the judges and scorers.

3. Inst., you are correct, I finished in the top 3rd of the field. As for documentation, I would be very surprised if any exists. I have looked elsewhere on the web for other comments on this tournement and have found none – aside from the glowing reviews by Chinese news sources of the Chinese teams’ performances. As I said above, I believe many of the competitors have and will keep their ideas to themselves because they want to compete again next year. The tournement itself (aside from what I have called cheating on the part of the Chinese and the complicity of the judges) is challenging and is one of the few times in the year when snipers from many different countries get together to compete. What makes a part of me want to compete again next year is the chance to experience the friendship and camaraderie that I found there (unfortunately the Chinese teams were either unwilling or unable to take part in this aspect of the tournement).

Its one thing when someone cheats on a pwt or a qualification shoot or some local competition. But it is a whole other ball of wax when you are at a famous/international competition representing your country as the top competitors.
