Hey folks,

If you personally own a small, keyless entry pistol safe that you would recommend, could you please share with me the brand, model and your thoughts on it?

Thanks,

OTC

I bought a Stack-On box that opens with a key. But I hated having the key on my key-ring. Just the thought that anyone could grab my keys and open the box while I'm in the shower or somewhere else.

So I bought one of those combination lockboxes specifically made for keeping a spare key in, and bolted it to the wall beside the lock-box.

The only key is kept in there. And only I know the combination.

I have used a sequiam biobox for a couple of years and it has been great. holds 100 (i think) fingerprints in flash memory, change the batteries once a year and no worries.

Frontier has this one for sale. I was thinking of getting one.

Does anyone know the quality of these?

Does it ever have problems reading your print? Do you ever have to try it multiple times?

I own an ALS Safe that I bought at a Locksmith shop and it is digital keyless entry. the good thing about it is if the batteries die the compartment is on the outside.

I would say it opens about 98% to 99% of the time on the first try with any given fingerprint. I have never, ever had it fail to open on the second attempt. Each attempt takes less than 5 seconds (closer to 3 seconds) to complete. Be sure to scan your prints in in a "relaxed" (don't press your finger on the scanner too hard) state, and keep the reader clean. It really does work well!

I have a Dac handgun safe.

It comes with a baseplate that you can attach to where ever you want and you can get extra ones to put in your vehicle. It has four "punch keys" and a key override. You can decide on 3-6 presses of the buttons in numerous combinations to open it. If fits nicely beside your bed :)

If you have more than two handguns, I would look elsewhere. I bought mine specifically for the being beside the bed. It comes with a small plastic shelf so you can have other things in there.

I got a good price from Wanstalls.

Happy Shopping!

Sounds good, I'll take a look!

Oh be very careful with that safe from Canadian Tire.. The word Safe is used very loosely in the description of those. More like lock box.

Checkout youtube. There are at least 3 very simple ways to open that safe without the combination (or master combination). This link has a youtube video in the reviews on how to open these.

Yes I posted that review cause I originally bought that safe to store my handgun in. It went back.

The safe you linked to is just a larger version of the one in my link.

Those Canadian tire safes are a joke.

Take a look at the override key. It's the same style as the lock on a file cabinet. What is referred to as a "disc-tumbler" lock. They are by far the easiest locks on the planet to pick. A child can do it.

I have seen some others with a "tubular lock" like is seen on vending machines. These locks are infinitely more difficult to pick. If you see one with a tubular lock, that is the one you want.
