What do you think it's worth?

Hi guys I have a rifle listed in the EE and noone seems to be moving on it. I was wondering what you guys would think it's worth. It's a TC Encore in 6.5x55 and 22-250. The 6.5 barrel is 26" EA Brown and the 22-250 is 28" TC prohunter fluted both with Talley all in ones. It's an all blued set up with custom walnut stock and Bellm trigger hammer spring and oversized hinge pin. What do you guys think it's worth I know how much I have into it but that's an unrealistic price I think. Maybe I'll just hold on to it ...... I don't know I really want to build a new Bolt action and it's a one in one out house hold here ;)

Your ad is a bit confusing...are you saying $1K for the whole shebang (both barrels), $800 for the 6.5 only or $700 for the 22-250? If so I'd say it's a pretty reasonable asking price. You might want to consider adding pics...lots of guys won't consider an ad without pics.

I think the big problem you'll have is that break action single shots aren't all that popular (despite what every other show on Wild TV might cause you to believe). Not saying that they aren't good, but a TC Single Shot (Encore platform, not the TCR platform which I love) would be pretty low on my list if I decided that I wanted another hunting rifle.

FWIW "one in, one out" is bogus. Buy a safe, bring the new one in and once you've got it in the house you're home free. Last time I checked the girls in WL were easier going than that. You didn't import an outsider to the Puddle, did you?

LOL I did bring in an import ! It has more to do with household economics though. I thought $1000 was fair for both barrels. There is pictures on the bottom. I guess there just isn't any interest. Thanks for your input keep it coming.

Bite your tongue!!! Dog n Suds has the best greasy breakfast in town, bar none.

Oliver's is tasty but too close to The Boot (sorry, the New Boot).

Historically the OV has had better and friendlier waitresses. In my day that was the tipping point.

Before we get banned...You consider consigning the TC at Chilcotin Guns? You could keep it on the EE as if it sells just go pick it up from the store and mail it off.

Just a thought, before we get infractions for talking chicken wings, beer and comely waitresses in the Hunting Rifles forum. :D

I'm gonna stroll into this like a wet blanket, as I know little of comely waitresses in Williams Lake. My experiences there lean towards homely unfortunately.

Now, as for EE hawking, that's something I am familiar with. If you want a gun to sell there's a few things you should follow:

-Text: Less is more, you're post is too busy and unclear for most to bother reading through. I'd trim it down to a quick bit about the gun, and your price options listed clearly in their own sentence underneath.

-Exclamation marks and attention grabbers work against, not for you. They scream desperate. Avoid rapid edits and price drops, pick a good price, which you have, and stick with it. Again the whole desperate thing, and people will conclude it's overpriced if you're dropping the price and it's not going anywhere.

-Pics should be clear and bright, taken in good natural daylight with a light background if possible.

-Give it time, I've sold many guns two months after initial listing. Guns are very much personal taste items, and it takes time to find a guy with your tastes, who's after your guns sometimes. Unless you're selling cheap boring guns.

-Avoid trying to sell Brownings and TC's :p These two have given me more headaches when it's time to sell than any other brands.

I agree, price is good. Lack of interest is the show-stopper here. .22-250 is the best varmint caliber around IMO, but put it in a single shot rifle and what have you got? A long reload while the 2nd dog is getting a good head start before the 2nd bullet.

Thanks for all your help guys. Ardent I edited it a bit, is that any better?
Shane I can reload that thompson as fast if not faster than a lot of bolt actions. Once you get used to it, it is pretty slick.
BUM, I try not to go into Chilcotin Ripoffs if I don't have to, we'll just say it's a long story and started with a $45 box of AE 45 acp. Love the puddle but only lived here 6 years moved here from the Island.
Thanks again all

Great EE advise!:)

You must have moved there just after I left. Great town. I miss it some days.

as long as we're not talking dog n' suds :puke: gotta like the coney sauce though

oh man, I'm drooling now! a lot of decades have passed since I last had that awesome coney sauce, on coney chips I think it was called, and prolly was at a dog'n'suds in Sask. I'd pay cash for the recipe! :)

lol
I do enjoy their burgers. If you were a mountie in this town I bet you have some seriuosly funny stories. Especially from Stampede weekend. ROFLMAO just thinking about it.
